Article Synopsis
  • The Perceptions of Children's Theory of Mind Measure (Experimental version; PCToMM-E) assesses children's understanding of others' mental states and was tested on caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder, showing strong reliability and correlation with children's mental age and task performance.
  • In a follow-up study, caregivers of typically developing children also showed high reliability in their scores, which successfully distinguished between children of different ages and developmental stages.
  • The findings suggest that the PCToMM-E is a valuable tool for evaluating theory of mind in children, with implications for future research in this area.
