Background: One of the most prominent etiological theories of gender incongruence in trans women proposes a paraphilic erotic target location error (ie, autogynephilia) as a causal factor in gynephilic (ie, exclusively gynephilic and bisexual) trans women. We hypothesized that a paraphilic erotic target location should manifest itself in various aspects of sexual behavior, solitary and dyadic sexual desire, and psychosexual experience.

Recent findings of an unexpected slowdown in the decline of CFC-11 mixing ratios in the atmosphere have led to the conclusion that global CFC-11 emissions have increased over the past decade and have been attributed in part to eastern China. This study independently assesses these findings by evaluating enhancements of CFC-11 mixing ratios in air samples collected in Taiwan between 2014 and 2018. Using the NAME (Numerical Atmospheric Modeling Environment) particle dispersion model, we find the likely source of the enhanced CFC-11 observed in Taiwan to be East China.

Chronic daily headache is a group of headache syndromes including most commonly chronic migraine and chronic tension-type headache, which often overlap, are complicated by medication overuse and are disabling, costly, and variable responsive to western pharmacotherapeutic interventions. There is growing research and awareness of integrative health approaches and therapies to address patients with chronic headache, yet limited examples of how to deliver this approach. This article reviews a commonly seen challenging case of a patient with overlapping chronic migraine and chronic tension-type headache complicated by medication overuse managed with an integrative east-west medicine intervention.

We report results of investigating carrier recombination in silicon nanocrystal/silicon dioxide superlattices. The superlattices prepared by nitrogen-free plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition contained layers of silicon nanocrystals. We demonstrate the electrostatic assembly of oppositely charged silica particles into an ensemble of well-defined core-satellite supraparticles, which are a type of patchy particle. To achieve controlled heteroaggregation, we used oppositely charged silica particles with different sizes ranging from 5nm to 150nm at several concentrations. The assembly works best with larger particles, resulting in a fairly low polydispersity and a low amount of bridging between the individual clusters.

Interparticle forces govern the mechanical behavior of granular matter and direct the hierarchical assembling of nanoparticles into supramolecular structures. Understanding how these forces change under different ambient conditions would directly benefit industrial-scale nanoparticle processing units such as filtering and fluidization. Here we rationalize and quantify the contributions of dispersion, capillary, and solvation forces between hydrophilic TiO2 nanoparticles with sub-10 nm diameter and show that the humidity dependence of the interparticle forces is governed by a delicate interplay between the structure of adsorbed water layers and the surface roughness.

We use high-temperature-stable silicon nitride membranes to investigate single layers of silicon nanocrystal ensembles by energy filtered transmission electron microscopy. The silicon nanocrystals are prepared from the precipitation of a silicon-rich oxynitride layer sandwiched between two SiO2 diffusion barriers and subjected to a high-temperature annealing. We find that such single layers are very sensitive to the annealing parameters and may lead to a significant loss of excess silicon.

The effect of the oxide barrier thickness (tSiO2) reduction and the Si excess ([Si]exc) increase on the electrical and electroluminescence (EL) properties of Si-rich oxynitride (SRON)/SiO2 superlattices (SLs) is investigated. The active layers of the metal-oxide-semiconductor devices were fabricated by alternated deposition of SRON and SiO2 layers on top of a Si substrate. The precipitation of the Si excess and thus formation of Si nanocrystals (NCs) within the SRON layers was achieved after an annealing treatment at 1150 °C.

Background And Aims: Climate change is advancing the leaf-out times of many plant species and mostly extending the growing season in temperate ecosystems. Laboratory experiments using twig cuttings from woody plant species present an affordable, easily replicated approach to investigate the relative importance of factors such as winter chilling, photoperiod, spring warming and frost tolerance on the leafing-out times of plant communities. This Viewpoint article demonstrates how the results of these experiments deepen our understanding beyond what is possible via analyses of remote sensing and field observation data, and can be used to improve climate change forecasts of shifts in phenology, ecosystem processes and ecological interactions.

Fundamental knowledge about the mechanisms of adhesion between oxide particles with diameters of few nanometers is impeded by the difficulties associated with direct measurements of contact forces at such a small size scale. Here we develop a strategy based on AFM force spectroscopy combined with all-atom molecular dynamics simulations to quantify and explain the nature of the contact forces between 10 nm small TiO(2) nanoparticles. The method is based on the statistical analysis of the force peaks measured in repeated approaching/retracting loops of an AFM cantilever into a film of nanoparticle agglomerates and relies on the in-situ imaging of the film stretching behavior in an AFM/TEM setup.

Chlorinated organic compounds are important contributors to the anthropogenic enhancement of stratospheric ozone depletion. We report measurements of stratospheric isotope fractionation in such a compound. Stratospheric and tropospheric difluorodichloromethane (CF2Cl2) were found to have the largest relative 37Cl/35Cl isotope ratio difference ever measured for a natural compound.

Objective: This clinical report describes a creative process for developing between-session prescriptions which sustain and strengthen the momentum of change occurring in group treatment sessions.

Method: Therapists in this model use words and phrases depicting the group as a body in order to guide the treatment process and develop between-session prescriptions. Maintaining a perspective of the treatment group as a body facilitates development of member commitment to the well-being of a physical and psychological body, and between-session assignments employ the developmental phases of the therapy for illuminating the disorder and effecting its resolution.
