The authors retrospectively identified 246 patients from 2003 to 2018, collecting demographic and clinicopathological data of interest. Odds ratio (OR) was used to assess the association between concomitant drugs and outcomes.

Exploring Artificial Neural Networks Efficiency in Tiny Wearable Devices for Human Activity Recognition.

The increasing diffusion of tiny wearable devices and, at the same time, the advent of machine learning techniques that can perform sophisticated inference, represent a valuable opportunity for the development of pervasive computing applications. Moreover, pushing inference on edge devices can in principle improve application responsiveness, reduce energy consumption and mitigate privacy and security issues. However, devices with small size and low-power consumption and factor form, like those dedicated to wearable platforms, pose strict computational, memory, and energy requirements which result in challenging issues to be addressed by designers.

A Real-World, Multicenter, Observational Retrospective Study of Durvalumab After Concomitant or Sequential Chemoradiation for Unresectable Stage III Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.

Introduction: For unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the standard therapy consists of chemoradiotherapy (CRT) followed by durvalumab maintenance for responding patients. The present study reports on the safety and outcome of durvalumab use after CRT in a real-world, multicenter, retrospective cohort.

Methods: Two hundred thirty-eight patients have been included.

Methods: A computerized search of the literature was performed by searching for terms related to reRT and spinal metastases in MEDLINE, EMBASE, OVID, and the Cochrane database from 1995 to 2019. Studies including at least 10 patients who had received reRT at the same site of initial radiotherapy for vertebral metastases with localized external beam radiotherapy were included.

Abscopal effect after hypofractionated radiotherapy in metastatic renal cell carcinoma pretreated with pazopanib.

The abscopal effect consists of distant metastases response after local treatment based on systemic immune stimulation. It is a rare event observed in many tumors, especially with radiotherapy and immunotherapy. We report the long-term abscopal effect in a metastatic renal cell carcinoma patient with lung metastasectomy, after hypofractionated radiotherapy on lymph node metastasis.

Palliative radiotherapy in advanced cancer patients treated with immune-checkpoint inhibitors: The PRACTICE study.

Objectives: stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) use has increased overtime for the management of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) patients, with a likely good control of irradiated lesions. We planned a retrospective multicenter Italian study, with the aim of investigating the outcome of treatment with SBRT for non-brain secondary lesions in mRCC patients.

Methods: all consecutive metastatic non-brain lesions from mRCC that underwent SBRT at nine Italian institutions from January 2015 to June 2017 were considered.

Impact of patients nutritional status on major surgery outcome.

Objective: Surgery is a major stress factor that activates several inflammatory and catabolic pathways in man. An appropriate nutritional status allows the body to react properly to this stressor and recover in a faster and more efficient manner. On the other hand, malnutrition is related to a worse surgery outcome and to a higher prevalence of comorbidities and mortality.

A Study on the Influence of Speed on Road Roughness Sensing: The SmartRoadSense Case.

SmartRoadSense is a crowdsensing project aimed at monitoring the conditions of the road surface. Using the sensors of a smartphone, SmartRoadSense monitors the vertical accelerations inside a vehicle traveling the road and extracts a roughness index conveying information about the road conditions. The roughness index and the smartphone GPS data are periodically sent to a central server where they are processed, associated with the specific road, and aggregated with data measured by other smartphones.

The nature of the disorder underlying the inability to retrieve proper names.

Two patients with the syndrome of proper name anomia were investigated. Both patients were only able to produce around 50% of the names of contemporary celebrities, but performed significantly better on a task calling for naming of historical figures. The names of relatives and friends were spared in one patient, while the other retrieved names of people known since childhood much better than those of people familiar to him since the age of 25.

Interferon alpha 2-b therapy of HCV and nonBnonC chronic hepatitis.
