- - A study analyzed 70 suspected TB samples using both traditional drug susceptibility testing and the newer GenoType MTBDRplus assay, finding similar rates of MDR (37.1%) with the latter showing high sensitivity (92.1% for rifampicin and 97.4% for isoniazid) and 100% specificity.
- - The GenoType MTBDRplus assay is deemed a fast and reliable test for detecting drug-resistant TB, which could help curb its spread in the community if used routinely.
