Background: Primary insulin hypersecretion predicts type 2 diabetes (T2DM) independent of insulin resistance. Enhanced β-cell glucose responsivity contributes to insulin hypersecretion. African Americans (AAs) are at a higher risk for T2DM than non-Hispanic Whites (NHWs).
