Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome is a female congenital disorder characterized by an underdeveloped or absent vagina and uterus. The first-line treatment to create a neovagina is patient-performed vaginal dilatation. We report here the rare case of an MRKH patient who presented with urethral dilatation and was successfully treated with Davydov vaginoplasty.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA 15-year-old female with primary amenorrhea, obesity, and insulin resistance, was admitted for further examination due to large pelvic masses found during a transabdominal ultrasound, which was performed while assessing the amenorrhea. The magnetic resonance imaging showed bilateral, multifocal fibrosing tumors, originating from both ovaries. A laparotomy was performed, during which the right ovary masses were enucleated and the left adnexectomy was performed.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 57 adolescents who attended a paediatric gynaecology clinic between 2017 and 2019 and had an established diagnosis of PCOS according to the 2018 criteria of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology. A clinical examination and pelvic ultrasound were performed and the level of total testosterone was measured.

Objective: To investigate the risk factors associated with unwanted pregnancy in 16- to 25-year-old women in Latvia.
Methods: Case-control study of 16- to 25-year-old, sexually active women who did not want to get pregnant: the cases were 144 women who underwent their first abortion whereas 278 nulliparous women served as controls. Data concerning them were obtained by using a semi-structured anonymous questionnaire that included questions about education, sexual life habits, contraceptive practice and a multiple-choice test to assess knowledge about contraception.
