The Prevalence of Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma Varies Substantially by Methods Applied: Results From a Population-Based Study.

Objectives: Accurate prevalence estimates of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) are important for numerous purposes including orphan drug designation. A key criterion for orphan drug designation is a disease prevalence of less than 5/10,000 persons. The objective is to apply and compare different methods of prevalence assessment.

Chlorella and vegetable oil inclusion in diets for growing rabbits: effects on growth, digestibility, plasma metabolites, and caecal fermentations and microbiota.

The inclusion of microalgae in livestock diets has been shown to enhance animal productivity, immune response, and meat quality. However, the role of chlorella (Chlorella vulgaris) in growing rabbit nutrition has been scarcely explored, with available studies focusing on low inclusion levels (<1%) and their effects on rabbit growth and immune response. This study evaluated the growth performance, nutrient digestibility, plasma metabolites, caecal fermentative activity, and caecal microbiota composition of growing rabbits fed diets with different inclusion levels of chlorella and crude fat.

Multilevel Analysis of MYC and BCL2 Aberrations in Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma: Identifying a High-Risk Patient Subgroup Across Cell-of-Origin Using Targeted Sequencing.

Introduction: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) exhibits striking clinical and biological heterogeneity. Recent studies have identified new subgroups within germinal center B-cell like (GCB) DLBCL, associated with inferior prognosis, irrespective of MYC and BCL2 translocations. We explored the existence of such a DLBCL high-risk subgroup, based on multilevel aberrations, especially focusing on MYC and BCL2.

Computational and neural evidence for altered fast and slow learning from losses in problem gambling.

Learning occurs across multiple timescales, with fast learning crucial for adapting to sudden environmental changes, and slow learning beneficial for extracting robust knowledge from multiple events. Here we asked if miscalibrated fast vs slow learn-ing can lead to maladaptive decision-making in individuals with problem gambling. We recruited participants with problem gambling (PG; N=20; 9 female and 11 male) and a recreational gambling control group without any symptoms associated with problem gambling (N=20; 10 female and 10 male) from the community in Los Ange-les, CA.

In the Greenlandic Inuit population, 4% are homozygous carriers of a genetic nonsense TBC1D4 p.Arg684Ter variant leading to loss of the muscle-specific isoform of TBC1D4 and an approximately tenfold increased risk of type 2 diabetes. Here we show the metabolic consequences of this variant in four female and four male homozygous carriers and matched controls.

The diatom Paralia guyana is a tychoplanktonic microalgal species that represents one of the early diverging diatoms. P. guyana can thrive in both planktonic and benthic habitats, making a significant contribution to the occurrence of red tide events.

The concentration of free glycerol in goat milk increases during feed restrictions.

This Research Communication introduces a novel enzymatic-fluorometric analytical procedure for glycerol and glycerol 3-phosphate in milk. Milk from thirty-seven goats was analysed during 9 consecutive days during which a two-day feed restriction was introduced. Fractional milk triacylglyceride and free glycerol increased significantly while glycerol 3-phosphate reacted more moderately.

A participatory multi-criteria decision analysis framework reveals transition potential towards non-grid wastewater management.

Many public environmental decisions are wicked problems due to high complexity and uncertainty. We test a participatory value-based framework based on multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) to tackle such problems. Our framework addresses two important gaps identified in reviews of MCDA applications to environmental problems: including stakeholders and treating uncertainty.

Effectiveness of R-CHOP versus R-CHOEP for treatment of young patients with high-risk diffuse large B-cell lymphoma: A Danish observational population-based study.

Purpose: Etoposide to standard R-CHOP is used for high-risk diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in some countries. Due to the lack of randomized trials, a real-world data study using matching methods was used to test the potential effectiveness of R-CHOEP over R-CHOP.

Protective Mechanisms of Siloxane-Modified Epoxy Novolac Coatings at High-Pressure, High-Temperature Conditions.

In the context of high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) conditions resembling those in the oil and gas industry, the performance of epoxy-siloxane hybrid coatings is investigated. Neat amine-cured epoxy novolac (EN) coatings exhibit drawbacks under these conditions, including softening upon exposure to hydrocarbons, leading to underfilm corrosion triggered by CO gas and seawater ion diffusion. To address these issues, two hybrid coatings, long-chain epoxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane-modified EN (EN-EPDMS) and short-chain 3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane-modified EN (EN-GPTMS), are assessed in HPHT environments.

Rodent-adapted infection in humans: Seven new cases and review of the literature.

Cases of cryptosporidiosis in humans have been reported with strong indication of transmission from rodents. Here, we report seven new human cases of cryptosporidiosis involving rodent-adapted species ( [ = 1], [ = 4; previously known as chipmunk genotype I], [ = 1], and [n = 1]) and review cases of human infection caused by these four species published to date. The seven new cases were detected in Denmark within a period of twelve months from 2022 to 2023.

Insights into the nature of ichthyotoxins from the Chrysochromulina leadbeateri blooms in Northern Norwegian fjords.

In May-June 2019, the microalga Chrysochromulina leadbeateri caused a massive fish-killing event in several fjords in Northern Norway, resulting in the largest direct impact ever on aquaculture in northern Europe due to toxic algae. Motivated by the fact that no algal toxins have previously been described from C. leadbeateri, we set out to investigate the chemical nature and toxicity of secondary metabolites in extracts of two strains (UIO 393, UIO 394) isolated from the 2019 bloom, as well as one older strain (UIO 035) isolated during a bloom in Northern Norway in 1991.

Remission in schizophrenia spectrum disorders: A randomized trial of amisulpride, aripiprazole and olanzapine.

Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder, and monitoring remission is a widely used measure of effectiveness of the treatment provided. It is very important to identify possible factors correlating with remission. In our substudy of BeSt InTro, a randomized controlled trial of three antipsychotic drugs, 126 patients with ICD-10 diagnoses F20-29 (F23 excluded) were randomized to one of the second-generation antipsychotic drugs amisulpride, aripiprazole or olanzapine.
