Evaluating Feasibility of an Exercise Intervention Including Physical Assessment During the First 6 Months of Cancer Treatment in Children and Adolescents in a Randomized Controlled Trial.

Purpose: The aim was to assess the feasibility of a randomized controlled exercise intervention, including physical assessments, in children and adolescents during the first 6 months of cancer treatment.

Materials And Methods: A sample of children and adolescents (n = 84, 6‒17.9 years) from an ongoing trial (INTERACT: NCT04706676) was randomly assigned to an integrative neuromuscular training (INT) intervention or active control intervention during treatment.

School-based social and educational support for siblings of children with cancer - Siblings' and parents' feedback on an intervention proposal (SUPREME).

Purpose: Siblings of children with cancer experience the consequences of their brother or sister's disease and treatment firsthand, often causing social and school-related difficulties. This study aimed to gather parents' and siblings' feedback on a proposal for a school-based social and educational support intervention for siblings with the goal of tailoring the program to meet the needs of siblings.

Method: Adopting a criterion sampling strategy, we conducted interviews with 20 parents and 11 siblings, aged 7-19 years, of children with cancer.

Predictors of Sexual Dysfunction, Associated Distress, and Sexual Satisfaction Among Male and Female Patients Living with Anxiety Disorders in Denmark.

Although previous studies have established links between anxiety disorders, sexual dysfunctions, and sexual satisfaction, there is relatively little research on the specific factors associated with living with an anxiety disorder that might contribute to these sexual health disparities. This study assessed the associations between anxiety, cognitive distractions, biased expectancies, and 1) sexual dysfunction (DSM-5 diagnostic criteria) 2) associated distress, and 3) sexual satisfaction while considering the role of pharmacological treatment-related sexual side effects and comorbid depressive symptoms. A large clinical population ( = 207) of people with anxiety diagnoses seeking treatment at 11 outpatient anxiety clinics in Denmark participated.

Recyclable and non-recyclable packaging films with different barrier properties: Effect of processing and storage time on quality of mashed potato and ground carrot.

The aim of this study was to evaluate if high barrier recyclable material polyethylene/ethylene vinyl alcohol (PE/EVOH) can be an alternative non-recyclable polyamides (PA)/PE laminate and also if high barrier is required or recyclable PE material with low barrier properties is good enough to maintain the quality of thermally processed mashed potato and ground carrot. The oxygen transmission rate (OTR) of the PA/PE and PE films decreased after heat treatment, while no change was observed for PE/EVOH films. Food contact did not impact the OTR of PA/PE and PE/EVOH films, while the OTR of PE films decreased.

Liver X receptor unlinks intestinal regeneration and tumorigenesis.

Uncontrolled regeneration leads to neoplastic transformation. The intestinal epithelium requires precise regulation during continuous homeostatic and damage-induced tissue renewal to prevent neoplastic transformation, suggesting that pathways unlinking tumour growth from regenerative processes must exist. Here, by mining RNA-sequencing datasets from two intestinal damage models and using pharmacological, transcriptomics and genetic tools, we identified liver X receptor (LXR) pathway activation as a tissue adaptation to damage that reciprocally regulates intestinal regeneration and tumorigenesis.

On the edge of the social media landscape: associations with adolescent substance use and moderation by parental rules.

Background: Adolescent problematic social media use (PSMU) has been increasing. Digital engagement has been associated with substance use, but little is known about the potential protective role of parents. We investigated whether screen and substance-related parental rules moderated the associations between (problematic) SMU and intake of tobacco, alcohol, hashish/marijuana, and laughing gas.

Physical activity behaviors and screen time in young childhood cancer survivors: the Physical Activity in Childhood Cancer Survivors Study.

Purpose: In childhood cancer survivors (CCS), high physical activity (PA) and low sedentary time may reduce risks of late-effects. PA behaviors and screen time, and how they relate to moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA) in CCS, are largely unknown. We examined PA behaviors and screen time, and their cross-sectional associations with MVPA.

Sex talks-experiences with and barriers to communication about sexuality with healthcare staff among patients with anxiety disorder in Denmark.

Background: Previous research among diverse patient populations suggests that healthcare staff routinely do not talk about sexuality with their patients even when such talks are highly indicated and relevant.

Aim: In this study we sought to investigate how patients at outpatient anxiety clinics in Denmark experience sexual communication with healthcare staff and what barriers they encounter in this connection.

Methods: We employed a survey design from January 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019.

Online Ambassador Visits for Hospitalized Children With Cancer: Qualitative Evaluation of Implementation.

Background: Children with cancer or cancer-like disease risk treatment-related isolation, which can negatively impact their peer relationships and social competencies and exacerbate their loneliness. During the COVID-19 pandemic, increased online socialization became the new normal imposed by national isolation guidelines. To adhere to the treatment-related isolation guidelines, children with cancer were offered online classmate "ambassador" visits during hospitalization.

School absence legislation governing in Norway, Sweden and Denmark for children with chronic illness in compulsory education-A comparative study.

Background: Health and education are interrelated and influence social, economic and lifestyle perspectives. Children with chronic illnesses experience barriers in the educational system regarding school attendance and social isolation. Gaining knowledge of compulsory education and how children with chronic illnesses are supported is crucial for the implications of future education policy and legislation in Scandinavia.

Implementing primary care behavioral health in Swedish primary care - study protocol for a pragmatic stepped wedge cluster trial.

Background: Mental health problems represent a large and growing public health concern. Primary care handles most of the patients with mental health problems, but there are many barriers to detection and treatment in this setting, causing under-recognition and under-treatment of patients. The service delivery model Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) shows promise to manage mental health problems in primary care, but more research is needed regarding its effects on multiple levels.

Rehabilitation including structured active play intervention for preschoolers with cancer during treatment: A RePlay qualitative study of parents' experiences.

Purpose: Preschool children receiving cancer treatment experience decreased gross motor function and challenges in personal and social development. For preschoolers, parents are critical for their child's cancer treatment trajectory, including their participation in physical activity. This study aimed to explore the parents' experiences with a novel rehabilitation intervention, including structured active play for preschoolers with cancer during treatment.

Sense of coherence, mental health, and hair cortisol concentrations among older people during the COVID -19 pandemic: a cross-sectional study.

Background: A person's sense of coherence (SoC) is likely to affect coping when exposed to a life changing event like the COVID -19 pandemic, which impacted the older population especially hard, an age group that already suffers from a lot of mental illness. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the associations between SoC and mental health in older adults using both screening scales and hair cortisol concentrations (HCC).

Method: A cross-sectional design studying a cohort of 70-80 years old, N = 260, set in Swedish primary care during the pandemic years 2021-2022.

The experiences of grandparents involved in the home-based end-of-life care of their grandchild with cancer: A qualitative secondary data analysis.

While grandparents are often a valuable resource in home-based pediatric end-of-life care, they may also experience psychological consequences when faced with their grandchild's illness and death. In this qualitative study, we performed semi-structured interviews with seven bereaved grandparents of four children with cancer who received home-based end-of-life care and died at home at age <18. Through qualitative content analysis we identified the overarching theme: "Navigating complex and unclear roles to support the family" and five themes: (1) Providing comfort and support; (2) Balancing and adapting involvement; (3) Worrying silently; (4) Managing difficult emotions; and (5) Calling for support and understanding.

Background And Aims: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) poses significant health challenges globally. While substantial data exists for most populations, the Arctic Inuit's CVD incidence rates remain understudied. This research aimed to change this by estimating CVD incidence and mortality rates in Greenland from 1994 to 2021.

From everyday life to measurable problematic smartphone use: The development and validation of the Smartphone Use Problems Identification Questionnaire (SUPIQ).

Background And Aims: Problematic smartphone use (PSU) has gained attention, but its definition remains debated. This study aimed to develop and validate a new scale measuring PSU-the Smartphone Use Problems Identification Questionnaire (SUPIQ).

Methods: Using two separate samples, a university community sample (N = 292) and a general population sample (N = 397), we investigated: (1) the construct validity of the SUPIQ through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses; (2) the convergent validity of the SUPIQ with correlation analyses and the visualized partial correlation network analyses; (3) the psychometric equivalence of the SUPIQ across two samples through multigroup confirmatory factor analyses; (4) the explanatory power of the SUPIQ over the Short Version of Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS-SV) with hierarchical multiple regressions.

Improving family grief outcomes: A scoping review of family-based interventions before and after the death of a child.

Background: Experiencing the illness and death of a child is a traumatic experience for the parents and the child's siblings. However, knowledge regarding effective grief interventions targeting the whole family is limited, including how to integrate age-appropriate support for siblings.

Aim: We aimed to synthesize the empirical literature regarding grief interventions that target the whole family before and/or after the death of a child.

Prevalence of cervical human papillomavirus in kidney transplant recipients: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to investigate the prevalence of cervical high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) among kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) and, furthermore to compare it to that in immunocompetent controls.

Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases from January 2000 to February 2023, to identify studies investigating the prevalence of cervical hrHPV in KTRs. Pooled cervical hrHPV prevalences, odds ratios (ORs) comparing KTRs to controls and corresponding confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated using random effects logistic regression models.

Incidence and clearance of cervical and anal high-risk human papillomavirus in kidney transplant recipients: Results from a Danish prospective clinical study.

This study investigates the incidence and clearance of cervical and anal high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) infection in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) compared to immunocompetent controls. During 2016-2017, we enrolled 125 female KTRs and 125 female controls. Liquid-based cervical and anal cytology samples collected at enrollment and follow-up were tested for human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA using the CLART HPV2 test.

Automated wash and reuse of disposable pipette tips in a SARS-CoV-2 RT-qPCR diagnostic pipeline.

The Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic led to global shortages in laboratory consumables, in particular for automated PCR. The Technical University of Denmark supported Danish hospitals from 2020 to 2022, conducting SARS-CoV-2 RT-qPCR on around 10,000 patient samples daily. We encountered shortages of disposable pipette tips used with automated liquid handlers that transferred oropharyngeal swab samples to 96-well microplates before RNA extraction.

Platelet dysfunction reversal with cold-stored vs room temperature-stored platelet transfusions.

Platelets are stored at room temperature for 5 to 7 days (room temperature-stored platelets [RSPs]). Because of frequent and severe shortages, the US Food and Drug Administration recently approved up to 14-day cold-stored platelets (CSPs) in plasma. However, the posttransfusion function of CSPs is unknown and it is unclear which donors are best suited to provide either RSPs or CSPs.
