This is an official guideline, published and coordinated by the Gynecological Oncology Working Group (AGO) of the German Cancer Society (DKG) and the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGGG). Vaginal cancers are rare tumors, which is why there is very little evidence on these tumors. Knowledge about the optimal clinical management is limited.

Uterine leiomyosarcoma (uLMS) is a rare entity among malignant gynecologic tumors with a very unfavorable prognosis and the highest prevalence in the pre- and peri-menopause. Only early-stage tumors have an acceptable prognosis, provided the patient has been treated without injuring the uterus. uLMS is often diagnosed accidentally and the correct diagnosis ishampered by equivocal features similar to the far more frequent benign uterine fibroids.

Neoadjuvant radio/chemotherapy regimens can markedly improve cervical cancer outcome in a subset of patients, while other patients show poor responses, but may encounter severe adverse effects. Thus, there is a strong need for predictive biomarkers to improve clinical management of cervical cancer patients. STAT3 is considered as a critical antiapoptotic factor in various malignancies.

Background And Objective: Intravesical instillation of glycosaminoglycans is a promising option for the treatment of chronic cystitis, as it supports the regeneration of the damaged urothelial layer. We investigated the efficacy of short-term intravesical chondroitin sulphate treatment (six courses of instillation) in patients with chronic radiotherapy- or chemotherapy-associated cystitis.

Methods: This prospective, observational study included patients with chronic radiotherapy- or chemotherapy-associated cystitis, who received six once-weekly intravesical instillations of 0.

The clinical course of a female patient affected by a progeroid syndrome with Restrictive Dermopathy (RD)-like features was followed up. Besides missing hairiness, stagnating weight and growth, RD-like features including progressive skin swelling and solidification, acrocontractures, osteolysis and muscular hypotension were observed until the patient died at the age of 11 months. A homozygousLMNA mutation c.

Objective: To compare the outcome of intrafascial nerve-sparing endoscopic extraperitoneal radical prostatectomy (nsEERPE) with interfascial (standard) nsEERPE.

Methods: Four-hundred patients underwent nsEERPE; 200 patients underwent bilateral intrafascial nsEERPE (group A) and 200 bilateral standard nsEERPE (group B). Tumor stages of T1 and T2a, prostate-specific antigen level <10 ng/mL, maximal Gleason score 3+4 (not 4+3) and preoperative potency were considered as candidates for nsEERPE.

Unlabelled: In recent years, a large number of groups studied the fate of human stem cells in livers of immunodeficient animals. However, the interpretation of the results is quite controversial. We transplanted 4 different types of human extrahepatic precursor cells (derived from cord blood, monocytes, bone marrow, and pancreas) into livers of nonobese diabetic/severe combined immunodeficiency mice.

Purpose: To establish a teaching program for the performance of endoscopic extraperitoneal radical prostatectomy (EERPE) that would ascertain the safe and efficacious training of residents with no previous experience with open pelvic surgery.

Materials And Methods: The technique of EERPE was divided in 12 segments with 5 levels of difficulty. We thus designed a training program, where the resident learned the procedure in a mentor-defined schedule.

Introduction: A technical modification of nerve sparing endoscopic extraperitoneal radical prostatectomy (nsEERPE) with preservation of the puboprostatic ligaments is presented and compared to a previous technique.

Materials And Methods: nsEERPE was performed in 100 men with clinically localized adenocarcinoma of the prostate from March 2004 through February 2005. Patients were divided into two groups: Group A included patients in whom a standard nsEERPE was performed (n=50), and group B included patients in whom a puboprostatic ligament sparing nsEERPE was performed (n=50).

Much debate exists on factors predicting the development of persistent gestational trophoblastic disease (pGTD). Diagnosis is still limited by following persistently elevated or rising postevacutation beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (beta-hCG) titers. The aim of the present work was to evaluate the hypothesis that the presence of c-erbB-2 oncogene amplification and expression, in combination with parameters such as DNA-content and karyotype of the sex chromosomes, confer an increased risk of developing pGTD.

Purpose: The growing use of highly sensitive but only moderate specific breast MRI requires the development of both minimal-invasive as well as precise biopsy systems. The aim of the study was to prove the accuracy and feasibility of a biopsy procedure carried out in prone position in a vertically opened MR imager.

Materials And Methods: The biopsies were carried out in 21 women with lesions visible on MRI alone using an open breast coil with an integrated biopsy device.
