envenomings are a public health problem in West Africa, leading to bleeding and hypocoagulability. The aim of this study was to assess the hemostasis disorders associated with envenoming. Envenomed patients with an abnormal whole blood clotting test (WBCT) were prospectively included at Tanguiéta, Benin.

Its venom exhibited potent activity against plasma and fibrinogen, among other enzymatic activities. The patient initially presented with edema of the right upper limb, without tissue necrosis.

A total of 200 patients were reported out of a population of 1700 (attack rate: 12%). The symptoms were mainly lower digestive tract disorders and occurred rapidly after lunch on 5 July (median incubation period: 3.

Knowledge of the bacteria present in snake mouths is a valuable aid for determining probabilistic antibiotherapy after Bothrops bite.

Indeed, only one species can be found on Réunion Island, while 38 species exist in French Guiana. The number of stings is also heterogenous, with up to 90 stings per 100,000 inhabitants occurring annually.

In June 2017, two successive cryptosporidiosis outbreaks occurred among service members in a military training camp located in Southwest France.

A retrospective observational study was conducted in all the reported cases from 2000 to 2020 in French poison control centers (PCCs). Two hundred and eighteen cases of bites were recorded.

In France, very few outbreaks were reported before 2017, and data recently obtained by the Expert Laboratory of the Cryptosporidiosis National Reference Center (CNR-LE-Cryptosporidiosis) have shown that outbreaks are in fact common and frequently underreported. In this work, we aim to report the characteristics of outbreaks detected in France during the period 2017-2020 and present a summary of investigations carried out by the CNR-LE-Cryptosporidiosis.

The fine mechanisms leading to this early post-treatment anemia are still elusive. We explored pathological changes in RBC subpopulations by quantifying biochemical and mechanical alterations during severe malaria treated with artemisinin derivatives, a drug family that induce "pitting" in the spleen.

In mainland France, scorpion species described are Buthus occitanus (Amoreux, 1789), Belisarius xambeui (Simon, 1879) and 4 Euscorpiidae: Euscorpius concinnus (Koch, 1837), Euscorpius italicus (Herbst, 1800), Euscorpius tergestinus (Koch, 1837), and Tetratrichobothrius flavicaudis (De Geer, 1778). We aimed to describe the impact of environmental conduction on the number of scorpion events.

In this article, we report the epidemiology of scorpion sting events in mainland France and its overseas territories based on cases reported to the French poison-control centres (FPCC).
Material And Method: This retrospective multicentre study was conducted with data from FPCC's files about scorpion stings between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2020.
Background: Intravenous artesunate is the World Health Organization-recommended first-line treatment for severe malaria worldwide, but it is still not fully licensed in Europe. Observational studies documenting its safety and efficacy in imported malaria are thus essential.
Methods: We prospectively collected clinical and epidemiological features of 1391 artesunate-treated patients among 110 participant centers during the first 7 years (2011-2017) of a national program implemented by the French Drug Agency.

The survey captured information from 45 mycology laboratories in France on how they perform AFST (number of strains tested, preferred method, technical and quality aspects, interpretation of the MIC values, reading and interpretation difficulties). Results indicated that 86% of respondents used Etest as AFST method, with a combination of one to seven antifungal agents tested.
