This study aimed to evaluate the visual facial perception in response to scars associated with repaired cleft lip (CL) on a male adolescent patient, as assessed via eye-tracking. Index of orthodontic treatment need (IOTN) malocclusions, grades 1, 5, and 8 were added to the frontal view facial image of an adolescent male model showing asymmetries of the nose and upper lip after CL surgery using the software Photoshop CS5 software. The eye movements of 91 laypeople observers were tracked by an Eye Tribe infrared sensor connected to OGAMA software.

The objective of this clinical case is thus to present a Class II, division 1, subdivision malocclusion with a severely extruded maxillary left hemiarch, which, due to the loss of mandibular teeth, makes prosthetic rehabilitation of the edentulous spaces impossible. A significant intrusion was performed with mini-implants followed by miniplates associated with fixed appliance and elastomeric chains. The results of this process showed that the biological responses of the teeth and the surrounding bony structure to the intrusion were demonstrated to be normal and acceptable.

This case report describes the orthodontic treatment used to prepare for restorative dentistry, aimed at the functional rehabilitation of an adult patient with Class I malocclusion, right posterior crossbite, and significant tooth wear on the palatal face of the maxillary canine to canine. The orthodontic treatment was performed with a total fixed appliance mini-expandex-type expander, associated with vertical elastics. Good dental intercuspation was obtained and enabled conditions for the restoration of the abrasions on the palatal surfaces of the maxillary incisors and canines and the tips of the buccal cusps of the maxillary right premolars and first molar.
