A theoretical model, developed previously to assess respirator cartridge service life, was applied to various acetone/styrene binary assault systems. Experimental data, collected for several binary mixtures differing only with respect to the concentration of each of the two compounds, were interpreted in terms of the model. Styrene concentrations varied from 228 to 1578 ppm; the range of acetone concentrations was 92-985 ppm.

Rhizobium meliloti strain SU47 produces both high molecular weight (HMW) and low molecular weight (LMW) forms of an acidic exopolysaccharide, succinoglycan. Genetic studies have shown that succinoglycan is required for alfalfa root nodule invasion. The authors report a case of a submandibular gland lesion, which occurred in a 64-year-old man, that was composed of intermingled ductal type adenocarcinoma and osteogenic sarcoma with a large component of osteoclast-like giant cells. The local recurrence of the tumor was entirely sarcomatous with no epithelial component observed.
