The S3-guideline on endometrial cancer, first published in April 2018, was reviewed in its entirety between April 2020 and January 2022 and updated. The review was carried out at the request of German Cancer Aid as part of the Oncology Guidelines Program and the lead coordinators were the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGGG), the Gynecology Oncology Working Group (AGO) of the German Cancer Society (DKG) and the German Cancer Aid (DKH). The guideline update was based on a systematic search and assessment of the literature published between 2016 and 2020.

This S2k guideline represents the structured consensus of a representative panel of experts with different professional backgrounds commissioned by the Guideline Committee of the DGGG, OEGGG and SGGG. Recommendations on the epidemiology, aetiology, classification, symptomatology, diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis are given and special situations are discussed.

The first German interdisciplinary S3-guideline on the diagnosis, therapy and follow-up of patients with endometrial cancer was published in April 2018. Funded by German Cancer Aid as part of an Oncology Guidelines Program, the lead coordinators of the guideline were the German Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGGG) and the Gynecological Oncology Working Group (AGO) of the German Cancer Society (DKG). The use of evidence-based, risk-adapted therapy to treat low-risk women with endometrial cancer avoids unnecessarily radical surgery and non-useful adjuvant radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy.

Methods: Using the European Liver Transplant Registry, we identified 105 patients who underwent liver transplantation for unresectable NC-HCC.
Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is a rare vascular tumor whose pathological diagnosis can be difficult. In the literature two cases of EHE were found to harbor a balanced t(1;3)(p36.3;q25) translocation, suggesting a characteristic chromosomal rearrangement as cause for the development of EHE.

Materials And Methods: Fifty patients (female, n = 15; male, n = 35; age range, 37-80 y) with hilar cholangiocarcinomas who were planned to undergo extended right hemihepatectomy were prospectively included in 2003-2006. In addition to biliary decompression of the left liver, patients were randomized to undergo embolization of the right hepatic artery (with transfemoral access and polyvinyl alcohol [PVA] particles plus coils) or right PV branches (with computed tomography [CT]-guided transhepatic access and PVA particles).
Background: preoperative assessment of pancreatic masses is still challenging as regards the characterization and assessment of irresectability. The opportunities of modern multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) with image postprocessing can be expected to enhance the diagnostic performance if accurate criteria are elaborated.
Purpose: to estimate the accuracy of MDCT and multiplanar image reconstructions with the use of standardized imaging criteria for preoperative evaluation of pancreatic masses with respect to irresectability.
Pancreatic islet cell tumors (ICTs) occur as sporadic neoplasias or as a manifestation of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) and von Hippel-Lindau disease (VHL). Molecular classification of ICTs is mandatory for timely diagnosis and surveillance. Systematic comparison of VHL-ICTs and sporadic ICTs has been lacking.

A total of 145 patients with liver cirrhosis who had undergone OLT and had pre-operative three-phase MDCT (4- to 64-rows) within 100 days before OLT were enrolled retrospectively. MDCT and 3Ds were reviewed by two independent blinded observers (O1/O2).

The symptoms resemble those of atherosclerotic occlusive disease, and the radiomorphologic pattern is often nonspecific. In most published cases, the malignant vascular obstruction was diagnosed histopathologically after surgical vascular reconstruction.

We report a case of a 60-year-old male patient with sclerosing mesenteritis as a rare cause of upper abdominal pain and digestive disorders, and present the corresponding magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings indicative of the underlying disease.

All HCC patients who underwent liver transplantation at our institution between 2001 and 2006 and had contrast-enhanced abdominal 4-/16-slice CT [unenhanced, arterial (20 s delay), portal venous (40 s), and venous (80 s) scan] within 100 days before transplantation were enrolled retrospectively. CT data were reviewed by two observers.

Background/purpose: Carcinoma of the distal bile duct is associated with poor prognosis. Surgical resection remains the only potentially curative treatment. We conducted a retrospective study to identify prognostic factors determining longterm survival.

Case Report: We present the case of a 28-year-old male, who was admitted to hospital because of a history of blood in bowel movements.
Background: Management of patients after locally ablative treatment of liver metastases requires exact information about local control and systemic disease status. To fulfill these requirements, whole-body imaging using positron emission tomography with (18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG-PET) is a promising alternative to morphologic imaging modalities such as computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Purpose: To evaluate FDG-PET for the assessment of local control and systemic disease in patients with clinical suspicion of tumor progression after laser-induced thermotherapy (LITT) of colorectal liver metastases.
Background/purpose: Major abdominal surgery such as liver resection is associated with an excessive hyperinflammatory response and transient immunosuppression. We investigated the immunomodulating effect of preoperative pulse administration of high-dose methylprednisolone in patients undergoing hepatic resection without pedicle clamping.
Methods: Twenty patients who underwent hepatic resection were randomized into two groups: a steroid group (n = 10), in which patients were given 30 mg/kg per body weight (BW) methylprednisolone intravenously, and a control group (n = 10), in which patients received a placebo (sodium chloride) infusion.

Background: Peritoneal dialysis is a generally accepted method for the treatment of patients with end-stage renal failure. The laparoscopic placement of peritoneal dialysis catheters is a well-established technique and offers some advantages, such as a safer placement of the catheter, less post-operative complications, and a longer functional survival, compared to the conventional open technique. The aim of this study was to describe our implantation technique and to determine the results of our approach.

To further improve immunosuppressive concepts, we evaluated an anti-CD4 antibody and an anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha monoclonal antibody for their immunosuppressive efficacy in the standard rat model of intestinal transplantation.
Methods: Intestinal transplantation was performed in the DA to Lewis combination, and recipients were treated perioperatively with either the anti-CD4 antibody RIB5/2 (day -1, 0, postoperative days 1, 2, 4, 7, 10, 14, 17, and 21), the anti-TNF antibody etanercept (60 min before reperfusion, postoperative days 3, 6, and 9) or a combination of both.
Background: The significance of pancreatic resection for pancreatic metastatic lesions has not yet been sufficiently investigated. A retrospective analysis of patients undergoing pancreatic resections for pancreatic metastases was conducted.
Material And Methods: Twenty patients were resected due to metastatic lesions to the pancreas.
