The aim was to isolate, characterize, and explore potentials of gut bacteria from the earthworm (Metaphire posthuma) and imply these bacteria for remediation of Cu(II) and Zn(II). An extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) producing gut bacteria (Bacillus licheniformis strain KX657843) was isolated and identified based on 16S rRNA sequencing and phylogenetic analysis. The line tension between the liquid expanded and the gaseous phase on the other hand is of similar magnitude for both fluorinated and non-fluorinated surfactants. Seven years after close down of operation, still moderate to high total concentrations of the dust constituents cadmium (up to 33 mg kg-1 dw), fluoride (5300 mg kg-1 dw) and phosphorous (120,000 mg kg-1 dw) were found in topsoils of contaminated sites. Accumulation of partially decomposed plant matter, soil respiration and dehydrogenase activity paralleled the increase of dust deposits, whereas microbial biomass decreased along the gradient.

An unusually substantial coupling is observed across the hydrogen bond of fully N-labeled compound 1 when it is studied by H and N NMR spectroscopy. The structure was determined by X-ray diffraction and shown to correspond to tautomer 1 a (both in the solid state and in solution). Lu 25-109 readily stimulated APPs secretion from HEK 293 cells overexpressing m1, but not m2, receptors, as well as from the hippocampal brain slices.
