In order to improve the performance of cement mortar (Portland cement), it was enriched with triclosan, hypochlorous acid, silver nanoparticles and graphene oxide. Cement mortar is used, among other things, to fill the gaps between the tiles of building porcelain stoneware. A number of structural, mechanical and biological tests were carried out.

Interview Results From a Telehealth Hospice Intervention for Children and Young Adults With Cancer.

Background And Aims: Surveyed families of children and young adults with cancer who participated in a pilot study of three coordinated telehealth visits (triad of patient/family, hospital clinician, and hospice nurse) during the first month of hospice enrollment found telehealth feasible and were highly satisfied with hospice care. The aim of this study is to further explore adult patient and caregiver perspectives on telehealth, specifically the benefits of telehealth, trade-offs with in-person appointments, and the impact on patient care and family end-of-life preparations.

Methods: This is a single-arm prospective pilot study of patients aged 0-29-with cancer initiating hospice care between 2021 and 2022 and their caregivers.

Background: Healthcare professionals play an important role in successfully implementing digital interventions in routine mental healthcare settings. While a larger body of research has focused on the experiences of mental healthcare professionals with the combination of digital interventions and face-to-face outpatient treatment, comparatively little is known about their experiences with digital interventions combined with inpatient treatment. This is especially true for acute psychiatric inpatient care, where studies on the implementation of digital interventions are more rare.

Supplemental online resources improve data literacy education: Evidence from a social science methods course.

Despite the importance of data literacy skills for academic and professional careers, learning these skills is a source of stress and difficulty for undergraduate students. This study first introduces an online supplemental instruction resource to support student learning in an introductory data analysis course at a large public university. To evaluate its impact, we conduct a pre-registered double-blind within-subject experiment.

Sulfobetaine ionic liquid crystals based on strong acids: phase behavior and electrochemistry.

A group of new zwitterion based ionic liquid crystals (ILCs) have been synthesized. Depending on the counter anion (mesylate or hydrogen sulfate) the phase behavior of the resulting ILCs is quite different. Mesylate based ILCs show complex phase behavior with multiple phases depending on the alkyl chain length.

Background: The Survey of Neonates in Pomerania (SNiP) is a birth cohort study conducted in Western Pomerania, Germany. SNiP-I recruited participants at birth between the years 2002 and 2008 (5801 inclusions). Incorporating these policies into health research is essential for improving targeted and equitable healthcare outcomes, by considering both disparities and similarities between individuals relating to sex and gender. Although these efforts are both urgent and critical, only an intersectional approach, which considers broad and multidimensional aspects of an individual's identity, can provide a complete understanding of the factors that impact health.

SARS-CoV-2 infection induces hyaluronan production and hyaluronan levels in COVID-19 patients relate to morbidity and long-term lung impairment: a prospective cohort study.

We previously demonstrated that the lungs of deceased COVID-19 patients were filled with a clear hydrogel consisting of hyaluronan (HA). In this translational study, we investigated the role of HA at all stages of COVID-19 disease to map the consequences of elevated HA on morbidity and identify the mechanism of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)-induced HA production. A reduced alveolar surface area was observed in the lungs of deceased COVID-19 patients compared to healthy controls, as visualized by a 3D rendering of lung morphology using light-sheet fluorescence microscopy.
