Minimally invasive (MI) transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) is a challenging technique with a long learning curve. We combined computer-assisted navigation and MI TLIF (CAMISS TLIF) to treat lumbar degenerative disease. This study aimed to evaluate the learning curve associated with computer-assisted navigation MI spine surgery (CAMISS) and TLIF for the surgical treatment of lumbar degenerative disease.

Methods: A search of the literature was conducted on PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE and the Cochrane Collaboration Library. Reports that included reoperations after decompression alone and/or decompression plus fusion surgeries were selected using designed eligibility criteria.
Genetic diversity in plants is remarkably high. Recent whole genome sequencing (WGS) of 67 rice accessions recovered 10,872 novel genes. Comparison of the genetic architecture among divergent populations or between crops and wild relatives is essential for obtaining functional components determining crucial traits.

Aberrant patterns of DNA methylation can lead to plant developmental abnormalities. A specific DNA methylation state is an outcome of dynamic regulation by de novo methylation, maintenance of methylation and active demethylation, which are catalysed by various enzymes that are targeted by distinct regulatory pathways.

Materials And Methods: The retrospective study included 748 patients who were diagnosed stage pT1b renal tumors and underwent either radical nephrectomy (RN, n = 475) or NSS (n = 273) from January 2004 to March 2017. The tumor size, pathological subtype, Fuhrman grade, status of peritumoral pseudocapsule (PC) and tumor multifocality were recorded.
Purpose: To investigate the differential gene expression pattern between invasive multifocal/multicentric (MMBC) and unifocal breast cancer (UFBC) with cDNA array and to discover the potential outlier genes associated with the incidence of MMBC and also to provide a guidance for clinical treatment and prognosis prediction.
Methods: This retrospective study analyzed the gene expression pattern alteration in breast cancer. We collected 156 MMBC (136 cases with 2 foci, 20 cases with 3 foci) and 130 UFBC samples from patients hospitalized in Yuhuangding Hospital, Yantai, from January 2005 to December 2015.
Molybdenum carbides are considered as one type of privileged noble-metal-free electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reactions (HER) due to their d-band electron structure, which is similar to Pt. Especially, the electronic structure of such materials can be further adjusted by elemental doping to improve their electrocatalytic activity. Herein, we selected the Anderson-type polyoxometalates (POMs) (NH4)n[TMMo6O24H6]·5H2O (TM = Ni2+, Co2+, n = 4; TM = Fe3+, Cr3+, n = 3) as precursors to prepare new transition-metal-doped Mo2C materials.

Environmental and socio-economic factors need to be accounted for when land is withdrawn from agriculture and wetlands are restored. We build multi-objective optimization models to provide decision support for wetland restoration in the Le Sueur river watershed in Southern Minnesota.

However, the residual quinclorac is toxic to many crops, vegetables, and aquatic animals, resulting in one of the major problems in crop rotation. Here, we investigated the degradation of quinclorac by strain AH-B, which was isolated from long-term quinclorac-contaminated soil using continuous circulating fluidized bed reactor and subjected to atmospheric and room temperature plasma mutation.

Herein, we show how a cross-shaped HPA-based architecture can self-sort the HA templates by pairing two different guests into a divacant {XYWO} building block, with four of these building block units being linked together to complete the cross-shaped architecture. We exploited this observation to incorporate HA templates into well-defined positions within the clusters, leading to the isolation of a collection of mixed-HA templated cross-shaped polyanions [(XYWO)(WO)] (X = H-P, Y = Se, Te, As).

SWISS-MODEL analysis showed two mutants had a longer loop located between β-4 and β-5 of domain II, resulting in higher binding affinity with brush border membrane vesicles (BBMV) of Helicoverpa armigera comparing with Cry2Ah1. The cry2Ah1, cry2Ah1-vp, and cry2Ah1-sp were optimized codon usage according to plant codon bias, and named mcry2Ah1, mcry2Ah1-vp, and mcry2Ah1-sp.

However, new nonprecious-metal electrocatalysts for the HER are required to reduce the consumption of energy. Herein, we report a new Co P/WC nano-heterojunction that consists of Co P and WC composite phases coated with a few-layer N-doped graphitic carbon shells (Co P/WC@NC).

Patients And Methods: 156 cases of invasive MMBC patients (136 patients with 2 focuses and 20 patients with 3 focuses) and 130 cases of UBC were collected from January 2005 to December 2015 in Yantai Yuhuangding Hospital. The differentially expressed lncRNAs in MMBC and UBC were screened by gene chip.
Throughout their lives, plants sense many developmental and environmental stimuli, and activation of optimal responses against these stimuli requires extensive transcriptional reprogramming. To facilitate this activation, plant mRNA contains untranslated regions (UTRs) that significantly increase the coding capacity of the genome by producing multiple mRNA variants from the same gene. In this review we compare UTRs of arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) and rice (Oryza sativum) at the genome scale to highlight their complexity in crop plants.

Among the 39 324 protein-coding genes predicted, the vast majority are untapped due to the lack of suitable high-throughput reverse genetic resources. We have generated a gene-indexed maize mutant collection through ethyl methanesulfonate mutagenesis and detected the mutations by combining exome capture and next-generation sequencing.

The individual data of 14,763 heifers, first inseminated in 2014, were analysed from 33 Holstein-Friesian dairy herds in Hungary. The relationships between management practices and major reproductive parameters (age at first service, AFS; age at first calving, AFC; conception risk to first insemination, CR1; and pregnancy status at 20 months of age) were examined by mixed-effects models, with the herd as the random effect.

Here we demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the template effect induced by metal cations in the formation mechanism of the class of polyoxopalladates ({MPdL} nanocube and {MPdL} nanostar) by combining computational and experimental techniques. The capture of a M guest ion by a peripheral palladium(ii)-oxo shell leads to a competition between the parent Pd addenda ion and the respective guest metal ion.
