Pyogenic liver abscess-caused Klebsiella pneumoniae in a tertiary hospital in China in 2017: implication of hypervirulent carbapenem-resistant strains.

Background: To investigate the epidemiology of Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) inducing pyogenic liver abscess (PLA) in east China and the role of hypervirulent carbapenem-resistant K. pneumoniae (Hv-CRKP).

Clinical and microbiological characteristics of cryptococcosis at an university hospital in China from 2013 to 2017.

Background: This study aims to explore the epidemiology, clinical profile and strain characteristics of cryptococcosis from 2013 to 2017 in a major teaching hospital in China.

Methods: Trends in antifungal drug susceptibility of 217 consecutive non-repetitive cryptococcal isolates collected from patients of an university hospital in China were analyzed between 2013 and 2017. Of those, 98 isolates were conserved for identification by internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequencing and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) system.

Dissemination of NDM-1-Producing Enterobacteriaceae Mediated by the IncX3-Type Plasmid.

The emergence and spread of NDM-1-producing Enterobacteriaceae have resulted in a worldwide public health risk that has affected some provinces of China. China is an exceptionally large country, and there is a crucial need to investigate the epidemic of blaNDM-1-positive Enterobacteriaceae in our province. A total of 186 carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae isolates (CRE) were collected in a grade-3 hospital in Zhejiang province.
