The fate of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) is the largest cause of uncertainty in long-term sea-level projections. In the last interglacial (LIG) around 125,000 years ago, data suggest that sea level was several metres higher than today, and required a significant contribution from Antarctic ice loss, with WAIS usually implicated. Antarctica and the Southern Ocean were warmer than today, by amounts comparable to those expected by 2100 under moderate to high future warming scenarios.

The response of the East Antarctic Ice Sheet to past intervals of oceanic and atmospheric warming is still not well constrained but is critical for understanding both past and future sea-level change. Furthermore, the ice sheet in the Wilkes Subglacial Basin appears to have undergone thinning and ice discharge events during recent decades. Here we combine glaciological evidence on ice sheet elevation from the TALDICE ice core with offshore sedimentological records and ice sheet modelling experiments to reconstruct the ice dynamics in the Wilkes Subglacial Basin over the past 350,000 years.

Here, we address these limitations by investigating the anatomy of abrupt changes using sub-decadal-scale records from Greenland ice cores. Significant changes in atmospheric CO over glacial-interglacial cycles have mainly been attributed to the Southern Ocean through physical and biological processes. However, little is known about the contribution of global biosphere productivity, associated with important CO fluxes. We report the case of a 56-year-old man presenting several episodes of body image distortions with a sensation of having a horn growing on his forehead, as a unicorn, corresponding to the Alice in Wonderland syndrome. Thrombolytic treatment (recombinant tissue plasminogen activator [rt-PA]) has established efficacy in acute ischemic stroke, but pregnancy has been an exclusion criterion for all clinical trials that validated alteplase in acute stroke, so our knowledge about its use in this condition is limited. Herein we report the successful use of intravenous rt-PA thrombolysis, uncomplicated by neither hemorrhage development nor other complication in a woman who was 13 weeks pregnant with acute ischemic stroke. The brain magnetic resonance imaging diffusion-weighted sequences showed increased signal in the territory of the left middle cerebral artery.

Teriflunomide is an oral therapy approved for relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis which has been shown to reduce relapse rate and disability progression. We report the case of a 54-year -old black woman with multiple sclerosis who developed follicular lymphoma after about 8 months of exposure to teriflunomide. Importantly, apart from age, the patient had none of the established risk factors for follicular lymphoma.

We present an ultrasensitive absorption spectrometer based on a 30 Hz/s stability, sub-kHz line width laser source coupled to a high-stability cavity-ring-down-spectroscopy setup. It provides direct and precise measurements of the isotopic ratios δO and δO in CO. We demonstrate the first optical absorption measurements of O anomalies in CO with a precision better than 10 ppm, matching the requirements for paleo-environmental applications.

The characterization of Last Glacial millennial-timescale warming phases, known as interstadials or Dansgaard-Oeschger events, requires precise chronologies for the study of paleoclimate records.
