Article Synopsis
  • MicroRNAs, specifically miR-148a, were found to be significantly downregulated in osteosarcoma tissues and cell lines compared to normal tissues, which is linked to tumor progression and poor patient prognosis.
  • The study identified ROCK1 as a target of miR-148a, with increased ROCK1 expression in osteosarcoma, and showed that manipulating miR-148a levels affected ROCK1 expression and the cancer cell behaviors like proliferation, migration, and invasion.
  • Overall, miR-148a is proposed as a tumor suppressor that inhibits osteosarcoma growth by targeting ROCK1, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target for treatment.

A new catalytic fluorimetric method for the determination of trace oxalate has been developed. The method is based on the catalytic effect of oxalate on the oxidation of potassium dichromate with rhodamine B in sulfuric acid medium. The catalytic reaction takes place at 50 degrees C for 10 min in a water bath and is a pseudo-zero-order reaction.
