Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics and outcomes of pelvic abscess after cervicovaginal canalization for congenital cervical and vaginal agenesis.
Cases: Four patients who had pelvic abscess after cervicovaginal canalization for congenital cervical and vaginal agenesis are reported. The mean onset time of pelvic abscess after primary canalization was 67.
Purpose: Our study aims to investigate the distribution of pain symptoms and the association between pain symptoms and clinical parameters in patients with adenomyosis.
Patients And Methods: The clinical and pathological data of 291 patients diagnosed with adenomyosis in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital from March 2012 to September 2015 were collected, and analyzed in regard to the pain symptoms.
Results: The median age at disease onset was 34 years.
Background: Fecal incontinence (FI) has been shown to be a common symptom in Western countries; however, there is few researches focusing on its epidemic condition in Chinese women. We conducted this national population-based epidemiology study to estimate the prevalence and risk factors of FI among adult Chinese women living in urban regions.
Methods: This is a subgroup analysis of a national population-based epidemiology study of FI.
Atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS) are the most common cytological abnormality of all smear test. No study has demonstrated the prevalence of cervical cancer or its precursor in Chinese patients with ASCUS. This study aims to investigate the prevalence of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 1 or worse (CIN1+) and CIN3 or worse (CIN3+) in patients with ASCUS in China to provide insight into appropriate management for Chinese health care.

Background: Fumarate hydratase (FH) plays an important role in cell metabolism. Germline mutation of FH may cause hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell cancer syndrome. The correlation between various mutations of FH gene and the phenotype is controversial and needs further study.

Although it is a rare entity, it can have life-threatening consequences. This study aimed to retrospectively analyze the potential associated factors for TSH following gynecologic laparoscopy and summarize prevention strategies based on our experience.

Genetic susceptibility to POP has been increasingly investigated. In this study, we assessed the single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of six collagen-related genes (COL14A1, COL5A1, COL4A2, COL3A1, COL1A1, and COL18A1) and the genetic association with POP in Chinese women.

Methods: We compared a titanized polypropylene lightweight mesh (TiLOOP Mesh) to a conventional polypropylene mesh (Gynemesh PS) in a sheep vagina model. Explants were harvested after 1 and 12 weeks (n = 6/mesh type/time point) for histological observation.
Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) have detrimental impact on health-related quality of life. This study has 2 aims: first to identify the optimum model for LUTS study and then to explore the potential associated factors of LUTS and bother LUTS with the optimum model among adult women in China. The survey was conducted in 6 regions of China between February and July 2006.

In this study, we aimed to demonstrate the short and long-term effect of menopause on the biochemical and biomechanical properties of rat anterior vaginas. Here, Sprague-Dawley rats were bilaterally ovariectomized to induce menopause.

Case Presentation: In this case, the patient was a Chinese woman with a history of two decades of intermittent vaginal pain, sexual intercourse pain and vaginal contact bleeding. On September 1, 2011, when the patient was 39 years old, a vaginal biopsy revealed vaginal adenosis.
The transient receptor potential canonical subfamily member 5 (TRPC5), one of seven mammalian TRPC members, is a nonselective calcium-permeant cation channel. TRPC5 is of considerable interest as a drug target in the treatment of progressive kidney disease, depression, and anxiety. Here, we present the 2.

Objectives: Nationwide prospective studies of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) during and after pregnancy have never been conducted in mainland China. A prospective longitudinal study was performed to evaluate the association of pregnancy and delivery on LUTS in a representative sample of primiparous Chinese women.
Methods: A national survey on urinary incontinence (UI) was conducted in 10,098 pregnant females during late pregnancy (37 to 42 weeks of gestation) and at 6 weeks postpartum.
Aims: To evaluate and compare the clinical outcomes of the transobturator sling with the single-incision sling, for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence at a long-term follow-up.
Methods: From October 2008 to October 2010, 94 patients who were enrolled and underwent either TVT-O, one of standard mid-urethral sling or TVT-S, one of single-incision mini-sling (SIMS) procedure. The study population was followed until February 2019.
Background: To assess the genetic diversity of seven Yunnan indigenous goat populations (Fengqing hornless goat, Mile red-bone goat, Longling goat, Ninglang black goat, Black-bone goat, Yunling black goat, and Zhaotong goat), their population structures were investigated using 20 microsatellite markers.
Results: The results indicated that the genetic diversity of these goats was rich. The observed heterozygosity ranged from 0.
Rationale: The purpose of this case report was to raise awareness regarding endometriosis on the surface of the uterus mimicking malignant tumor and thus manage it accurately.
Patient Concerns: A 40-year-old Asian woman with a 2-year history of lower abdomen pain was admitted to our department with elevated serum cancer antigen (CA) 125 level, weight loss, and pelvic mass from 20 days previously. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a high volume of effusion in the pelvic cavity, an irregular occupying lesion on the surface of the fundus of the uterus, and multiple nodules.
Since the first successful serial crystallography (SX) experiment at a synchrotron radiation source, the popularity of this approach has continued to grow showing that third-generation synchrotrons can be viable alternatives to scarce X-ray free-electron laser sources. Synchrotron radiation flux may be increased ∼100 times by a moderate increase in the bandwidth ('pink beam' conditions) at some cost to data analysis complexity. Here, we report the first high-viscosity injector-based pink-beam SX experiments.

Methods: Cardiac and abdominopelvic noncontrast computed tomographic images of 668 individuals were used to measure EAT and VAT volume. Multivariable logistic regression and area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were used to illustrate the contributions of these tissues.
Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) is a neurohormone that maintains circadian rhythms by synchronization to environmental cues and is involved in diverse physiological processes such as the regulation of blood pressure and core body temperature, oncogenesis, and immune function. Melatonin is formed in the pineal gland in a light-regulated manner by enzymatic conversion from 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT or serotonin), and modulates sleep and wakefulness by activating two high-affinity G-protein-coupled receptors, type 1A (MT) and type 1B (MT). Shift work, travel, and ubiquitous artificial lighting can disrupt natural circadian rhythms; as a result, sleep disorders affect a substantial population in modern society and pose a considerable economic burden.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe human MT and MT melatonin receptors are G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that help to regulate circadian rhythm and sleep patterns. Drug development efforts have targeted both receptors for the treatment of insomnia, circadian rhythm and mood disorders, and cancer, and MT has also been implicated in type 2 diabetes. Here we report X-ray free electron laser (XFEL) structures of the human MT receptor in complex with the agonists 2-phenylmelatonin (2-PMT) and ramelteon at resolutions of 2.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Most synthetic meshes used in transvaginal surgery are made of polypropylene, which has a stable performance, but does not easily degrade in vivo. However, mesh-related complications are difficult to address and have raised serious concerns. A new biomaterial mesh with good tissue integration and few mesh-related complications is needed.
