Objective: Secondary infection, especially bloodstream infection, is an important cause of death in critically ill patients with COVID-19. We aimed to describe secondary bloodstream infection (SBI) in critically ill adults with COVID-19 in the intensive care unit (ICU) and to explore risk factors related to SBI.
Methods: We reviewed all SBI cases among critically ill patients with COVID-19 from 12 February 2020 to 24 March 2020 in the COVID-19 ICU of Jingmen First People's Hospital.
High harmonic generation (HHG) is usually described by the laser-induced recollision of particlelike electrons, which lies at the heart of attosecond physics and also inspires numerous attosecond spectroscopic methods. Here, we demonstrate that the wavelike behavior of electrons plays an important role in solid HHG. By taking an analogy to the Huygens-Fresnel principle, an electron wave perspective on solid HHG is proposed by using the wavelet stationary-phase method.

With the physics-informed neural networks (PINNs), we modify the corresponding loss function in the existing literature and obtain two types of dark solitons, type-I and type-II solitons. It is demonstrated that the modified loss function presents higher-precision wave-packet behaviors based on fewer initial and boundary data.

Three rubber chains with the different chemical structures (silicon rubber, 1,2-polybutadiene, styreneic block copolymer) were covalently bonded on the CNC porous skeleton based on thiol-ene click chemistry, to fabricate the CNC/rubber composite aerogels. With the introduction of moderate loading levels of rubber, the composites aerogels exhibited low density and shrinkage, high porosity and specific surface area and improved mechanical performance.

Tobacco bushy top disease (TBTD) is a devastating tobacco disease in the southwestern region of China. TBTD in the Yunnan Province is often caused by co-infections of several plant viruses: tobacco bushy top virus (TBTV), tobacco vein distorting virus (TVDV), tobacco bushy top virus satellite RNA (TBTVsatRNA) and tobacco vein distorting virus-associated RNA (TVDVaRNA). Through this study, two new poleroviruses were identified in two TBTD symptomatic tobacco plants and these two novel viruses are tentatively named as tobacco polerovirus 1 (TPV1) and tobacco polerovirus 2 (TPV2), respectively.

To overcome this drawback, a novel in-situ-doped nano-calcium carbonate (CaCO) chitin hydrogel was synthesised as an efficient adsorbent for Cu (II) and Cd (II) ions. Accumulating evidence is unveiling that the gut microbiome is broadly altered in COVID-19, including the bacterial microbiome, mycobiome, and virome. Overall, the gut microbial ecological network is significantly weakened and becomes sparse in patients with COVID-19, together with a decrease in gut microbiome diversity.
