Background: Subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS) is a common cause of shoulder pain and dysfunction. Modified posterior shoulder stretching exercises have been proposed as a treatment method aimed at improving shoulder function and reducing pain in patients with SIS. However, the efficacy of these exercises remains controversial, necessitating a systematic meta-analysis to comprehensively evaluate their effectiveness.

Like other herpesviruses, KSHV employs two distinct life cycles: latency and lytic replication. To establish a lifelong persistent infection, KSHV has evolved various strategies to manipulate the epigenetic machinery of the host.

However, owing to the imbalance in structural tension at the micro-scale (MOF crystallization) and the meso-scales (assembly of micelles with MOF subunits), the formation of single-crystal meso-MOFs is challenging. Here we report the preparation of uniform single-crystal meso-MOF nanoparticles with ordered mesopore channels in microporous frameworks with definite arrangements, through a cooperative assembly method co-mediated by strong and weak acids.

In this study, we discovered that manganese (Mn) could strongly inhibit HBV infection in NTCP-reconstituted HepG2 cells without affecting viral replication. We therefore profiled the antiviral effects of Mn2+ in an attempt to elucidate the regulatory mechanisms involved in early HBV infection.

Problems: Family caregivers of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (FC-ASD) have been reported to experience high levels of physical and psychological distress. This bibliometric study aimed to analyze the research trends, collaboration and knowledge dissemination pertaining to FC-ASD over the past 20 years.
Methods: This study provided an analysis of documents indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), published from January 1, 2002 to December 31, 2022.
Unlabelled: Viral immunosuppression substantially affects the host immune response of infected patients and the protective efficacy of vaccines. Here, we found that the spike (S) protein, the major vaccine antigen of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), strongly suppresses host innate immunity by inhibiting interferon-stimulated gene (ISG) expression through both S1 and S2 subunits. Mechanistically, the S protein inhibited the formation of the classic interferon-stimulated gene factor 3 (ISGF3) complex composed of STAT1, STAT2, and IRF9 by competing with STAT2 for binding to IRF9, thereby impeding the transcription of ISGs.

Genetic abnormalities of the parathyroid hormone 1 receptor (PTH1R) lead to profound craniomaxillofacial bone and dentition defects on account of inappropriate tissue metabolism and cellular differentiation. The coordinated activity of differentiation and viability in bone cells is indispensable for bone metabolism. Recent research demonstrates mesenchymal progenitors are responsive to PTH1R signaling for osteogenic differentiation, whereas the effect of PTH1R on cellular survival remains incompletely understood.

This study aimed to compare one-year clinical outcomes and healthcare utilisation in patients receiving general or regional anaesthesia for hip or knee arthroplasty.
Methods: Using data from the TriNetX Global Collaborative Network, we conducted a retrospective analysis of 247,142 patients aged 40-90 y who underwent hip or knee arthroplasty between 2010 and 2023.
is a zoonotic parasite that causes severe symptoms in humans, including eosinophilic meningitis and eosinophilic meningoencephalitis. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from helminthes have been implicated in regulating host survival and immune response. However, the roles of EVs in modulating parasite pathogenesis and host immune response remain poorly understood.

Utilizing data from the Fisheries Statistical Yearbook, three scenarios were employed to assess the effects of highly migratory, oceanic migratory, and seasonal migratory fish species on the MTL and FiB indices. The analysis revealed a continuous increase in MTL for offshore and coastal fisheries, suggesting shifts in the trophic structure and potential over-exploitation of higher trophic level species.

The pathogenesis mechanisms of PAS include an imbalance between decidualization and trophoblast invasion.

This study investigates whether disulfiram (DSF) can mitigate MTX-induced pulmonary fibrosis and explores the underlying mechanisms.
Methods: Eight-week-old male mice were divided into control, DSF, MTX, and MTX+DSF groups and treated for 8 weeks.
Background: Notable advances have been made in immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) for cancer treatment. However, the adverse effects of ICIs, especially hepatotoxicity, remain a challenging problem. Whether patients in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-endemic areas are prone to developing hepatic adverse events during ICI treatment warrants further exploration.

Methods: In this retrospective study, we included 510 patients with coronary heart disease, diabetes, and renal insufficiency who received PCI at the Third People's Hospital of Chengdu from July 2018 to December 2020. Patients were divided into three groups based on their eGFR levels: 113 patients with eGFR ≥ 60 mL/min/1.
Anatase titanium dioxide (TiO) has drawn great attention as an anode material in sodium ion batteries (SIBs), but it suffers from the sluggish diffusion kinetics of Na within TiO and inferior electronic conductivity. Herein, under the guidance of density functional theory (DFT), we propose a nitrogen and selenium dual-doped TiO system as an advanced SIB anode. Both DFT and experimental investigations reveal the cooperative effect of dopants in boosting the electrochemical performance of TiO, finding the optimal content ratio (N/Se at 1:3) for overall improved SIB performances.

This technique also enabled us to investigate the potential effects of preserving the left colonic artery on the perfusion of the anastomosis.
Methods: This prospective study included 40 rectal cancer patients who underwent laparoscopic anterior resection between January 2021 and January 2023.
Background: Organophosphate flame retardants (OPFRs) are commonly used in various consumer products to prevent fire hazards. However, OPFRs have been linked to several health problems, including cancer. This study aimed to investigate the association between urine levels of OPFRs and endometrial cancer (EC), and to explore the correlation between concentrations of parent OPFR compounds and their metabolites.

The efficient construction of chalcogen-atom-based chiral compounds remains a challenge, despite the importance of organoselenium and organosulfur compounds in life and materials science. Chalcogen atoms can form net attractive interactions called chalcogen bonds, but it is an undeveloped tool to assist asymmetric catalysis. Herein, we report an enantioselective insertion platform to install a stereogenic center bearing selenyl and thiocyano functional groups.
