Objective The introduction and implementation of voluntary assisted dying (VAD) legislation represents a major shift in Australian health policy. Given potential repercussions for health professionals, understanding how they are being affected by this legislation is important to guide future policy and legislative changes. This study aims to explore the perspectives and experiences of Australian health professionals on VAD and compare impacts on those working under different state legislation in Victoria and WA.

Effect of audio distraction with thermomechanical stimulation on pain perception for inferior alveolar nerve block in children: a randomized clinical trial.

Background: Pain control is a crucial aspect of pediatric dentistry for patient management. Thermo-mechanical devices (Buzzy™ Pain Care Labs, USA) work on the concept of vibration and cooling and have shown promising results in pain control during local anesthesia in pediatric dentistry. On the other hand, audio distraction has also been used for pain management.

Non-ossifying fibroma (NOF) is not prevelant in the mandible. It appears mostly in the long tubular bones in children and adolescents. We are presenting a case of a four-year-old girl reported to the maxillofacial department with painless swelling over the lower right side of the jaw.

Buffered articaine infiltration for primary maxillary molar extractions: a randomized controlled study.

Background: Dental pain management is an important aspect of patient management in pediatric dentistry. Articaine is considered the most successful anesthetic agent for infiltration anesthesia. Buffered articaine has been observed to have faster onset and longer duration of action with less pain on injection.

Drug shops for stronger health systems: learning from initiatives in six LMICs.

Background: Private sector retail pharmacies, or drug shops, play an important role in access to essential medicines and services in low-and-middle-income countries. Recognising that they have the potential to contribute to health system strengthening efforts, many recent initiatives to engage with drug shops have been launched. These include initiatives that focus on changes in policy, regulation and training.

Barriers and facilitators for integration of guidelines on operating health shops: a case of family planning services.

Background: The Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) piloted the implementation of Guidelines on Operating Health Shops in Zambia in 2016, with a view to making basic medicines more accessible to communities. The guidelines aim to transform ordinary drug shops into health shops, which are dispensing facilities permitted to sell a ZAMRA-prescribed list of medicines over the counter. However, studies that explore the integration and uptake of guidelines into the health system are lacking.

Domestic funding for health policy and systems research: why is it invisible?

Effectiveness of magnetized water and 0.2% chlorhexidine as a mouth rinse in children aged 12-15 years for plaque and gingivitis inhibition during 3 weeks of supervised use: A randomized control study.

Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Random Omental Fine Needle Aspiration: A Novel Technique for the Diagnosis of Peritoneal Carcinomatosis.

Background/aims: Diagnostic abdominal paracentesis has been described in literature to have variable sensitivity of 50%-75% for the detection of peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC). We believe that random needle aspirates from the omentum, even in the absence of obvious deposits by endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), could prove malignancy in patients with PC.

Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent EUS for diagnosis and staging of cancer and found to have ascites were included after obtaining informed consent.

Objective: An important factor in the assessment of caries risk is the presence of specific oral microflora, especially Streptococcus mutans. Some S. mutans strains possess proteins capable of binding collagen, such as the Cnm and Cbm proteins.

Ossiculoplasty: A Prospective Study on 50 Patients Using Various Graft Materials.

Acute kidney injury secondary to thrombotic microangiopathy associated with idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome: a case report and review of the literature.

Background: Renal involvement in idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome is uncommon. The mechanism of kidney damage can be explained as occurring via two distinct pathways: (1) thromboembolic ischemic changes secondary to endocardial disruption mediated by eosinophilic cytotoxicity to the myocardium and (2) direct eosinophilic cytotoxic effect to the kidney.

Smartphones and tooth brushing: content analysis of the current available mobile health apps for motivation and training.

Introduction: Smartphone mobile app is an innovative concept for health behaviour-based interventions.

Aim: The present study aimed to analyse apps developed for smartphones that promote tooth brushing amongst children using the Coventry, Aberdeen, and London-Refined (CALO-RE) taxonomy for behaviour change.

Materials And Methods: Tooth brushing apps available in English and free to download that purported to assist with brushing were searched on the Apple app store using search terms based on Boolean logic and included AND combinations for keywords tooth brushing, children, toothbrush and motivation in the health and fitness category; six apps met the inclusion criteria and were downloaded.

Modified Angle's Classification for Primary Dentition.

Aim: This study aims to propose a modification of Angle's classification for primary dentition and to assess its applicability in children from Central India, Nagpur.

Methods: Modification in Angle's classification has been proposed for application in primary dentition. Small roman numbers i/ii/iii are used for primary dentition notation to represent Angle's Class I/II/III molar relationships as in permanent dentition, respectively.

Characterization of purine-rich element binding protein B as a novel biomarker in acute myelogenous leukemia prognostication.

Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) is an aggressive hematologic cancer characterized by infiltration of proliferative, clonal, abnormally differentiated cells of myeloid lineage in the bone marrow and blood. Malignant cells in AML often exhibit chromosomal and other genetic or epigenetic abnormalities that are useful in prognostic risk assessment. In this study, the relative expression and novel single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) binding function of purine-rich element binding proteins A and B (Purα and Purβ) were systematically evaluated in established leukemia cell lines and in lineage committed myeloid cells isolated from patients diagnosed with a hematologic malignancy.
