Molecular analysis of this biofluid offers a non-invasive way to diagnose or monitor diseases, assess medical treatment efficacy, and identify possible biomarkers. Due to the limited sample volume, collecting tear samples requires specific skills and appropriate tools to ensure high quality and maximum efficiency.

However, aging brings about structural and functional changes in these cells, leading to discomfort and potential pathology. Alterations in gene expression, influenced by aging and environmental factors, significantly affect cell structure and function.

In depression, there exists a reduction in the availability of dendritic spines in the frontal cortex (FC) and hippocampus (Hp).

In response to a signal that may be deleterious for the retina, Müller glia-derived extracellular vesicles spread instructions to induce gene expression changes in other cells.

Cyclic hypoxia (cyH) is a common feature of TME since tumor blood vessels fail to provide a continuous supply of oxygen to the tumor mass. Here, we hypothesized that the localization of MCs in cyH regions within solid tumors could modify their transcriptional profile and activation parameters.

Numerous rodent and non-human primate studies of viral- or, to a lesser extent, bacterial-induced maternal immune activation (MIA) have documented a series of neurological alterations that may contribute to understanding the pathophysiology of schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorders. Long-term neuronal and behavioral alterations are now ascribed to the effect of maternal proinflammatory cytokines rather than the infection itself.

There is controversy regarding the best bioprosthesis. We compare the performance of stented bioprosthetic valves (the Mosaic [Medtronic™] porcine pericardial against Carpentier Perimount Magna Ease [Edwards™] bovine) in pulmonary position in patients with CHD.

Harnessing Müller cell heterogeneity may serve to enhance new therapeutic approaches for retinal disease.

Consequently, there is a real need to enhance marine ecosystems while halting the decline of fish stocks and boosting artisanal fishing. Under these circumstances, artificial reefs (ARs) have emerged as a promising option.

The τ^{-} lepton is reconstructed in the hadronic decay to three charged pions.

To find predictive biomarkers of response to therapy, we conducted a retrospective study evaluating blood biomarkers before nCRT. It is a Class II drug poorly water-soluble, with very low bioavailability, a feature particularly limiting to treat the trichinellosis chronic phase. Microcrystals obtained by controlled precipitation using hydroxyethyl cellulose and chitosan have previously been shown to improve ABZ biopharmaceutical properties.

A measurement of mixing and CP violation in neutral charm mesons is performed using data reconstructed in proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment from 2016 to 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb^{-1}. A total of 30.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA new tioconazole (TCZ) mucoadhesive film, based on a biodegradable chitosan/ hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (CH/HPMC) blend, was developed for treatment of vaginal candidiasis. The formulation was optimized through an I-optimal design (minimizing the integral of the prediction variance across the factor space), where the impact of the proportion of the ingredients and processing variables on the quality of the final product was evaluated. Both, the thickness of the film and the swelling index, which affect patients' comfort and compliance, were considered.

We examine the effect of 36 SNPs on clinical outcomes in patients with locally advanced HNC who were receiving platinum-based chemoradiotherapy (CRT).
Methods: These SNPs were genotyped in 110 patients using the iPLEX Gold assay on the MassARRAY method in blood DNA samples and used Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analyses to compare genotype groups with the survival.
We present an angular analysis of the B^{+}→K^{*+}(→K_{S}^{0}π^{+})μ^{+}μ^{-} decay using 9 fb^{-1} of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment. For the first time, the full set of CP-averaged angular observables is measured in intervals of the dimuon invariant mass squared. Local deviations from standard model predictions are observed, similar to those in previous LHCb analyses of the isospin-partner B^{0}→K^{*0}μ^{+}μ^{-} decay.

A popular mathematical approach for solving the muscle recruitment problem is optimization. Optimization-based methods minimize or maximize some criterion (objective function or cost function) which reflects the mechanism used by the central nervous system to recruit muscles for the movement considered.

Their mechanisms of activation in type I hypersensitivity reactions have been the subject of multiple studies, but the signaling pathways behind their activation by innate immunity stimuli are not so well described. Here, we review the recent evidence regarding the main molecular elements and signaling pathways connecting the innate immune receptors and hypoxic microenvironment to cytokine synthesis and the secretion of soluble or exosome-contained mediators in this cell type.
