[Extrapleural mesothelioma].

Malignant mesothelioma of the peritoneum, pericardium and tunica vaginalis is a rare neoplasm usually associated with exposure to asbestos. The disease is most common in males over the age 40 years with sings and symptoms of neoplastic disease with or without a palpable abdominal mass, abdominal pain and ascites. Diagnosis is often possibly only after direct vision and histologic examination.

[Primary extragonadal germ cell tumors].

Extragonadal germ cell tumors (ECT) account for only 2-5% of all germ cell neoplasms in adults. These tumors in part biologically distinct from their testicular counterparts and have distinct clinical features. The results of multidrug therapy of 44 male patients with non-seminomatous testicular tumours are discussed. The diagnosed tumours were of all stages of the clinical advances and were treated with combined chemotherapy (surgery and PVP regimen). Thirty two patients (73%) are followed up between 7 and 103 months and survived, complete remission is noted in 29 patients (66%) including 6 patients who survived over 5 years.
