The concept of immunomodulation was proposed by Edward Jenner, while working on polio vaccine in 1796. Many of the autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel diseases, psoriatic arthritis and system lupus erythematosus, viral diseases and, some cancers are characterized with elevated levels of "immunocytokine" gene expression, including, tumor necrosis factor-α, various interleukins, cytotoxic T-cell antigen-4, B-cell activating factor. For the treatment of these diseases, the immunologically-based therapies play the major role.

Therapeutic contact lens used in the treatment of non-infective corneal pathologies are prone to infection by microorganisms like bacteria, protozoa and fungi. Bacteria cause the majority of contact lens-related infections. Although rare, fungal invasion of soft contact lenses is a potentially severe complication which may cause keratitis and more fulminating infections.

Aim: The objective of the present investigation is to compare the accuracy of two methods of age estimation, Cameriere's European formula and Demirjian's method, in estimating the age of mixed-dentition children in Telangana.

Materials And Methods: Digital orthopantomographs (OPGs) of 36 children between the age of 7 years and 12 years were subject to analysis. All the OPGs were analyzed for dental age using both Cameriere's and Demirjian's methods for mixed dentition.

Cryptococcus neoformans, an encapsulated fungal pathogen is evolving as a major threat to immune-compromised patients and rarely to healthy individuals also. The cell wall bound capsular polysaccharide, melanin pigment and biofilm formation are major virulence factors that are known to contribute to cryptococcal meningitis. In the present study, a furanone derivative, (E)-5-benzylidenedihydrofuran-2(3H)-one (compound-6) was evaluated against biofilm of seven different strains of C.

Conjunctival capillary haemangiomas are very rare above 40 years of age group, with few cases reported in the literature. Adding to the scanty literature of this uncommon vascular tumour, we present the case of a 45-year-old man who presented with a nodular growth in the conjunctiva without any associated systemic diseases or cutaneous lesion. Excisional biopsy of the mass was done.

This case report describes a rare presentation of presumed brain stem tuberculoma in a 28-year-old male who presented with acute onset of third cranial nerve palsy with contralateral hemiparesis (Weber syndrome) and upgaze palsy. Isolated midbrain tuberculoma is rare, presenting with varied clinical manifestations and radiological findings posing as a diagnostic dilemma. Weber syndrome is commonly caused by midbrain infarct secondary to occlusion of branches of the posterior cerebral artery and rarely from a tuberculoma.

The emergence and spread of pathogens harboring extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) like carbapenem resistant Gram negative bacteria are the major emerging threat to public health. Of particular concern carbapenamase- producing strains have been recorded worldwide. Catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) caused by are significantly associated with morbidity and mortality.

Introduction: Several genomic imprinting mechanisms have been postulated to report the parent-of-origin in Klinefelter syndrome. It was stated in the literature, parental origin has an effect on behavioral phenotype of Klinefelter individuals, but the association of the same on clinical profile was less reported. The detailed clinical phenotype when studied with the known origin of extra X may possibly explain the imprinting effect that may be helpful to derive diagnostic criteria in the syndrome.
