The development of ion-sensitive field-effect transistor (ISFET) sensors based on silicon nanowires (SiNW) has recently seen significant progress, due to their many advantages such as compact size, low cost, robustness and real-time portability. However, little work has been done to predict the performance of SiNW-ISFET sensors. The present study focuses on predicting the performance of the silicon nanowire (SiNW)-based ISFET sensor using four machine learning techniques, namely multilayer perceptron (MLP), nonlinear regression (NLR), support vector regression (SVR) and extra tree regression (ETR).

The regulation of root angle relies on the auxin-mediated root gravitropism machinery. While the influence of ethylene on auxin levels is known, its specific role in governing root gravitropism and angle remains uncertain, particularly when Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) core ethylene signaling mutants show no gravitropic defects.

One shot real-time 3D-printing can produce 3D architectured microchannels, or free-standing complex micro-objects eventually in flow. The methodology is very versatile and can be applied to , acrylate resins or hydrogels.

Objective: Tumor-to-skin distance is known to have an effect on axillary lymph node metastasis but has no clinical use with nomograms. This study aimed to investigate the effect of tumor-to-skin distance on axillary lymph node metastasis alone and in combination with nomogram for clinical use.
Methods: A total of 145 patients who underwent surgery for breast cancer (T1-T2 stage) and whose axillary lymph nodes were evaluated (axillary dissection or sentinel lymph node biopsy) between January 2010 and December 2020 were included in the study.

Root angle in crops represents a key trait for efficient capture of soil resources. Root angle is determined by competing gravitropic versus antigravitropic offset (AGO) mechanisms. Here we report a root angle regulatory gene termed () that encodes a putative AGO component, whose loss-of-function enhances root gravitropism.

This study aimed to understand the mechanisms behind vetch flavor development following processing to facilitate its uptake as a future source of dietary protein. A total of 95 volatile compounds were identified by solid-phase microextraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (SPME GC-MS) for a range of vetches processed by dehulling, soaking, germination, microwaving, and fermentation.

A rise was seen in EVALI cases at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, the non-specific presentation, or the overlapping symptoms of COVID-19 and EVALI, can negate the possible diagnosis of EVALI because of a clinician's predisposition toward infectious etiologies, and it becomes even more challenging during a viral pandemic.

Objective: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) and obesity are important public health problems associated with adipose tissue mass. Asprosin, visfatin, and subfatin are new members of which fate in MetS and obesity has not been fully revealed yet. Thus, this study was to investigate the association between asprosin, visfatin, subfatin, and biochemical values, demographic data, and body composition measurement values in MetS patients with and without obesity.

Methods: A total of 105 patients who underwent PD consecutively due to periampullary located diseases were included in the study. Patients were divided into two groups as CR-POPF and no postoperative pancreatic fistula (No-POPF).
Background: There are data on the safety of cancer surgery and the efficacy of preventive strategies on the prevention of postoperative symptomatic COVID-19 in these patients. But there is little such data for any elective surgery. The main objectives of this study were to examine the safety of bariatric surgery (BS) during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and to determine the efficacy of perioperative COVID-19 protective strategies on postoperative symptomatic COVID-19 rates.

However, recycling composite materials, such as fiber-reinforced polymers and CMCs, is still a big challenge. Here, we present for the first time the processing of superparamagnetic iron-containing ceramic fibers, which, due to their magnetic properties, can be separated from the matrix material of a composite.

We first provide a comprehensive mechanistic study of the polymer-to-ceramic conversion based on TG experiments coupled with in-situ mass spectrometry and ex-situ solid-state NMR and FTIR spectroscopies of both the chemically modified polymer and the pyrolysis intermediates. The pyrolysis leads to X-ray amorphous materials with chemical bonding and ceramic yields controlled by the nature of the atmosphere.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the protective effects of staple line reinforcement with omentopexy during laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy on postoperative complications.
Materials And Methods: A total of 3942 laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy cases were included in the study. All the patients were divided into 3 groups: No reinforcement (NoSLR), staple line reinforcement with fibrin glue (SLR-FG), and staple line reinforcement with omentopexy (SLR-O).
Background: The loss of the fat pad surrounding the fibular head after rapid and excessive weight loss after bariatric surgery can lead to foot drop symptoms due to peroneal nerve entrapment (PNE). Conservative and surgical approaches have been described for the treatment of this condition, but there is some controversy over the effectiveness of the treatment modalities.
Objective: We aimed to investigate the causes and frequency of foot drop due to PNE after bariatric surgery and to investigate the effects of peroneal nerve decompression (PND) as a surgical treatment for PNE.
Here we report on the discovery of a ternary silicon titanium nitride with the general composition (Si,Ti)N with x = 0 < x < 1 and spinel-type crystal structure. The novel nitride is formed from an amorphous silicon titanium nitride (SiTiN) precursor under high-pressure/high-temperature conditions in a large volume high-pressure device. Under the conditions of 15-20 GPa and 1800-2000 °C, spinel-type γ-SiN and rock salt-type c-TiN are formed.

The relative volume fraction of the starting precursors and the pyrolysis temperatures not only influences the phase fraction of zirconia crystallites but also stabilizes the tetragonal crystal structure of zirconia (t-ZrO) at room temperature. The presence of carbon in interstitial sites of zirconia and oxygen vacancy defects led to drastic reduction in the band gap (2.
