Housing infrastructure and quality is a major determinant of infectious disease risk and other health outcomes in regions where vector borne, waterborne and neglected tropical diseases are endemic. It is important to quantify the geographical distribution of improvements to dwelling components to identify and target resources towards populations at risk. This study aimed to model the sub-national spatial variation in housing materials using covariates with quasi-global coverage and use the resulting estimates to map predicted coverage across the world's low- and middle-income countries.

Given the rapid growth of the nuclear sector, effective treatment of radioactive iodine is critical. Herein, we report the synthesis and the iodine adsorption properties of croconic acid (CTPB) and squaric acid (STPB) containing π-conjugated novel zwitterionic conjugated porous polymers (CPPs). The CPPs have been synthesized through a condensation reaction of tris(4-aminophenyl)benzene with croconic acid or squaric acid in high yields (~95 %).

A methodological framework for assessing sea level rise impacts on nitrate loading in coastal agricultural watersheds using SWAT+: A case study of the Tar-Pamlico River basin, North Carolina, USA.

This study addresses the urgent need to understand the impacts of climate change on coastal ecosystems by demonstrating how to use the SWAT+ model to assess the effects of sea level rise (SLR) on agricultural nitrate export in a coastal watershed. Our framework for incorporating SLR in the SWAT+ model includes: (1) reclassifying current land uses to water for areas with elevations below 0.3 m based on SLR projections for mid-century; (2) creating new SLR-influenced land uses, SLR-influenced crop database, and hydrological response units for areas with elevations below 2.

Effect of patient characteristics on aortic attenuation in iodinated contrast-enhanced Abdominopelvic CT: A retrospective study.

Introduction: Contrast Enhanced Computed Tomography (CECT) abdomen and pelvis is a common imaging procedure. Hospitals typically follow fixed protocols of contrast volume administration for triple-phase CECT abdomen and pelvis scans and have found that patients are either underdosed or overdosed with respect to their body habitus. The aim of the study was to correlate different patient characteristics such as Total body weight (TBW), Lean Body Mass (LBM), Body Mass Index (BMI), Body Surface Area (BSA) and Blood Volume (BV) with aortic enhancement in the arterial and portal venous phases for CECT Abdomen and pelvis.

Enhancing human resilience against climate change: Assessment of hydroclimatic extremes and sea level rise impacts on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, United States.

Coastal regions face climate-induced threats that have likely increased over the past four decades. In this work, we quantify the future climate impacts on hydroclimatic extremes in the risk-prone, 15-m-above-sea-level Eastern Shore of Virginia (ESVA) region, utilizing the Sixth International Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6) Assessment Report 6 (AR6) and General Circulation Models (GCMs). We incorporate historical data on demographics and disasters, land use land cover (LULC), Landsat imagery, and sea level rise (SLR) to better understand and highlight the correlation between hydroclimatic extremes and societal components in this region.

Multiplex PCR for Early Generation Identification of Tomato Segregants Carrying Ty-2, Ty-3 and Ph-3 Resistance Alleles Against Leaf Curl and Late Blight Diseases.

Deployment of different natural disease resistance alleles is the most sustainable and eco-friendly way for multiple disease management in tomato. Diagnostic molecular markers are indispensible in this effort as they offer early generation identification of resistance alleles in an environment-independent manner. Moreover, optimized multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for detecting different disease resistance alleles in a single reaction can speed-up the selection process with cost and labour-effectiveness.

In this work, we quantify the future projected impacts of hydroclimatic extremes on the coastal, risk-prone Tar-Pamlico River basin in North Carolina using GCMs from the Sixth International Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6).

At the same time, advancements in the field of marker assisted selection (MAS) have made the stacking of multiple desirable alleles through molecular breeding to develop superior tomato genotypes possible. Here we report seedling stage MAS from 146 F plants, to identify 3 superior performing, root knot disease resistant orange-fruited segregants.

Groundwater plays a crucial role in sustaining global food security but is being over-exploited in many basins of the world. Despite its importance and finite availability, local-scale monitoring of groundwater withdrawals required for sustainable water management practices is not carried out in most countries, including the United States. In this study, we combine publicly available datasets into a machine learning framework for estimating groundwater withdrawals over the state of Arizona.

This retrospective observational study aims to understand the impact of CovishieldTM (ChAdOx1 nCoV- 19 Corona Virus Vaccine, Recombinant) COVID-19 vaccination on ejaculate quality in fifty-three patients undergoing semen analysis between 2018 to 2021. A baseline semen profile was recorded from the subjects during their visit before the vaccination for fertility work-up.
