The gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were synthesized by using naturally available Punica Granatum fruit extract as reducing and stabilizing agent. The biosynthesized AuNPs was characterized by using UV-Vis, fluorescence, high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and thermogravimetric (TGA) analysis. The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) band at 585nm confirmed the reduction of auric chloride to AuNPs.

This year's Women Deliver conference made a strong call for investing in the health and development of adolescents and young people. It highlighted the unique problems faced by adolescent girls and young women-some of the most vulnerable and neglected individuals in the world-and stressed the importance of addressing their needs and rights, not only for their individual benefit, but also to achieve global goals such as reducing maternal mortality and HIV infection.In response to an invitation from the editors of Reproductive Health, we-the sixteen coauthors of this commentary-put together key themes that reverberated throughout the conference, on the health and development needs of adolescents and young people, and promising solutions to meet them.

Epibionts from the red (Hypnea valentiae) and brown seaweeds (Padina tetrastromatica) were rapidly isolated on Zobell agar medium. All the isolates from both the seaweeds (76 numbers) were tested against five human pathogens which were resistant to at least one of the commercially available antibiotics at a minimal concentration of 10 mg. The most antibiotic productive isolate (PT19) from Padina tetrastromatica was extracted and observed to inhibit Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa with zone sizes of 15 and 10 mm radius, respectively, at a concentration of 300 μg.

Aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro α-glucosidase inhibition and antioxidant activity of hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of Hedyotis biflora L. (Rubiaceae). In in vitro α-glucosidase inhibition and antioxidant activity, the methanol extract showed potent effect compared to hexane and ethyl acetate extracts.

Purpose: To determine whether the bystander effects induced by chemotherapeutic agents are similar to those induced by ionising radiation and to analyse the cell dependency, if any, in different human cell types such as normal lung fibroblasts (WI-38), human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSC), lung adenocarcinoma (A-549, NCI-H23) and peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL).

Purpose: Malignant transformation of cells is frequently associated with abnormalities in HLA expression. These abnormalities may play a significant role in the clinical course of the disease because the cellular immune response to tumors relies on concomitant recognition of tumor antigens with self-HLA molecules. Since HLA molecules mediate interactions of tumor cells with specific receptors on T and natural killer (NK) cells, tight control of expression of HLA molecules is critical for initiation and implementation of an effective cellular immune response.
