Objective: This research designed to analyze the and ameliorative action of maslinic acid (MA) and gallic acid (GA) on reactive oxygen species generating enzyme xanthine oxidase (XO) in isoprenaline or isoproterenol (ISO) induced myocardial infarcted rats.
Methods: Albino Wistar rats were categorized into four groups with eight rats in each group. A dose of 15 mg/kg of MA and GA were pretreated to each MA and GA groups for seven days.
Potential health benefits of consuming tea are thought to include anti-inflammatory actions of its constituent flavonoids including catechins, which are well-recognized antioxidants. We analyzed and discovered a novel mechanism by which epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), the most abundant polyphenol in tea and a putative health-promoting constituent, inhibits activation of the nuclear transcription factor NF-κB, which mediates inflammatory responses to cytokines and other agents. We found that EGCG inhibits NF-κB-p65 transcriptional activity, by preventing NF-κB-p65 binding to κBs in normal human bronchial epithelial cells.

Lipid peroxidation which is oxidative degradation of polyunsaturated fatty acids and results in cell damage has also been associated with COPD pathogenesis. Increased levels of lipid peroxidation as well as its end product 4-hydroxynonenal have indeed been detected in COPD patients.

Consequently, endothelial dysfunction featuring inflammation and reduced vasodilation are considered central to cardiovascular disease (CVD) pathogenesis and have become a therapeutic area of focus. Type II endothelial cell (EC) activation by stress-related stimuli such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) initiates the nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) signaling pathway, a master regulator of inflammatory responses.

Rats were pre-treated orally with SA (50 mg/kg), RV (50 mg/kg) and combination of SA (25 mg/kg) and RV (25 mg/kg) along with positive control gallic acid (50 mg/kg) for 30 days. The effects of ISO on cardiac markers, lipid profile and lipid peroxidation marker, anti-oxidant enzymes and m-RNA expression of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kB) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were observed along with histopathological observations of simple and transmission electron microscopes (TEM).

Methods: Groups of all rats were subjected oral pre-treatment at the beginning of the study with SA (50 mg/kg), RV (50 mg/kg) and combination (COMB) of SA (25 mg/kg) and RV (25 mg/kg) along with gallic acid (GA) (50 mg/kg) for 30 days. After sacrification, homogenate of heart tissue along with serum were utilized for further biochemical investigations.

The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of fruit ethanolic extract (TpFE) on lipids, lipoproteins, lipid metabolism marker enzymes and paraoxonase (PON) in isoproterenol (ISO)-induced myocardial infarcted rats. PON is an excellent serum antioxidant enzyme which involves in the protection of low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) from the process of oxidation for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. ISO caused a significant increase in the concentration of total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-C, very low density lipoprotein cholesterol and lipid peroxidation whereas significant decrease in the concentration of high density lipoprotein cholesterol.

Myocardial infarction (MI) is a leading major health problem with increased morbidity and mortality worldwide. The present study investigates isoproterenol (ISO) induced MI and the beneficial role of Aegle marmelos fruit extract (AMFE) in rats. Our results indicated the significant augmentation of plasma nitric oxide (NOx) levels, C-reactive protein (CRP), homocysteine, apolipoprotein B (apo-B), cardiac tissue lipid peroxidation and liver 3-hydroxy-3 methyl glutaryl CoA (HMG-CoA) reductase activity in ISO treated rats (85mg/kg b.

The present study was intended to appraise the nutraceutical inherent of HPLC standardized Spinacia oleracea methanolic leaf extract (SoLE) in isoproterenol (ISO) induced male albino Wistar rats via activation of pro-inflammatory signaling pathway that drives myocardial necrosis. Biochemical analysis of ISO injected rats showed significant alterations in the activities of homocysteine, paraoxonase, lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase, C-reactive protein, myeloperoxidase and caspase-3 which were further confirmed by the histopathological examination.

In this connection, we have identified p21 activated kinase 1 (PAK1) as a novel therapeutic target for the treatment of myocardial infarction (MI), where its expression is decreased when MI is induced with isoproterenol (ISO), which was brought back normal with pretreatment of Vitex negundo leaf ethanolic extract (VNE). These results were also supported by histopathological studies, cardiac markers, antioxidants, and inflammatory cytokines (NF-κB and IL-1β).
