We report the case of long-term persisting rheumatoid arthritis (RA), treated with CD20-CD19 CAR-T when it became associated with diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL), resulting in a sustained drug-free remission of the preceding RA, as well as of the subsequent DLBCL that formed the indication of the CAR-T therapy using zamtocabtagene autoleucel, with a 1-year follow-up. According to our best knowledge, this is the first published clinical case report of long-term persisting RA treated with CAR-T cell therapy.

The detection of various molecular species, including complex organic molecules relevant to biochemical and geochemical processes, in astronomical settings, such as the interstellar medium or the outer solar system, has led to the increased need for a better understanding of the chemistry occurring in these cold regions of space. In this context, the chemistry of ices prepared and processed at cryogenic temperatures has proven to be of particular interest due to the fact that many interstellar molecules are believed to originate within the icy mantles adsorbed on nano- and micro-scale dust particles. The chemistry leading to the formation of such molecules may be initiated by ionizing radiation in the form of galactic cosmic rays or stellar winds, and thus, there has been an increased interest in commissioning experimental setups capable of simulating and better characterizing this solid-phase radiation astrochemistry.

We report on a common canine mutation in pro-opiomelanocortin (), which prevents production of β-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (β-MSH) and β-endorphin but not α-MSH; humans, similar to dogs, produce α-MSH and β-MSH from the propeptide, but rodents produce only α-MSH. We show that energy expenditure is markedly lower in affected dogs, which also have increased motivational salience in response to a food cue, indicating increased wanting or hunger.

This study aimed to investigate PHB production in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC6714 MT_a24 in an outdoor bioreactor using urban wastewater as a sole nutrient source.

Despite their ubiquitous presence on Earth, purines have yet to be detected in observations of astronomical environments. This work therefore proposes to study the infrared spectra of purines linked to terrestrial biochemical processes under conditions analogous to those found in the interstellar medium.

All expressions were recognized significantly above the chance level. For six of the expressions, the correct response was selected significantly more than the others, while more than one emotion was associated to some other expressions.

At the same time new drugs and chemotherapy regimens have been approved for systemic use lately, the results of targeted therapy and the precision medicine approach are also encouraging. Further progress is needed covering all treatment modalities (surgery, radiotherapy, systemic treatment) in order to improve outcome of patients suffering from pancreatic cancer.

X-ray structures of SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 3CL enzymes in complex with multiple ML300-based inhibitors, including the original probe ML300, were obtained and proved instrumental in guiding chemistry toward probe compound (CCF0058981). The disclosed inhibitors utilize a noncovalent mode of action and complex in a noncanonical binding mode not observed by peptidic 3CL inhibitors.

Microalgae-based bioenergy production is a promising field with regard to the wide variety of algal species and metabolic potential. The use of liquid wastes as nutrient clearly improves the sustainability of microalgal biofuel production. Microalgae and bacteria have an ecological inter-kingdom relationship.

Colorectal cancer is a clinically and molecularly heterogeneous disease. Currently, extended RAS and BRAF mutation testing is obligatory in routine clinical practice before starting any treatment in the metastatic setting. Treatment decision making also includes assessment of the clinical condition of the patient, definition of the treatment goal, and consideration of the primary tumor site.

Despite the fact that many specialities are involved, until the present day, an orbital surgical centre was not developed. The main goal of this case report is to highlight the importance of these events, to develop a surgical approach, to recognize and solve the complications if they are present even in the cases of organic foreign bodies affecting more head and neck anatomical regions and structures.

While this accumulation has been studied in phototrophic algal cultures, little data exists for heterotrophic cultures. We have determined the Se-AAs content, selenium/sulfur (Se/S) substitution rates, and overall Se accumulation balance in photo- and heterotrophic cultures.

To verify the proposed procedure, several microalgae-Chlorella, Nostoc, Synechocystis, Scenedesmus, and Cylindrospermum-were cultured under controlled laboratory conditions (irradiance, temperature, mixing, CO, and nutrient supply) to find the optima of photosynthetic activity using the range between 15 and 35 °C. These activities were recorded at each temperature step after 2 h of acclimation which should be sufficient as oxygen production and the PQ cycle are regulated by fast processes.

In this work, the key moments of the development of the so-called thin-layer cascades (TLC) for microalgae production are described. Development started at the end of the 1950s when the first generation of TLCs was set-up in former Czechoslovakia. Since, similar units for microalgae culturing, which are relatively simple, low-cost and highly productive, have been installed in a number of other countries worldwide.

Besides the leading role of biodiesel and biogas, bioethanol receives more and more attention as first- and second-generation biofuel in the sustainable energy industry. Lately, microalgae (green algae and cyanobacteria) biomass has also remarkable potential as a feedstock for the third-generation biofuel production due to their high lipid and carbohydrate content.

We tested the suitability of Salix viminalis for phytoextraction with the analysis of selected elements in soil, root, and leaf, and by visual tree condition assessment in an area with varying levels of contamination. Bioconcentration factor (BCF) and translocation factor (TF) were used to assess the phytoextraction potential of willows. The middle part of the study area was strongly contaminated, while the northern and southern parts were moderately contaminated.

Several clinical studies have confirmed that specific BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase inhibitors alter the physiological process of bone tissue in a complex and unclearly identified manner. Since these treatments are being given to more and more patients, and the therapy takes decades or lasts even lifelong, it is justifiable to obtain more detailed knowledge of the molecular background of these mechanisms.
