Eighteen patients with autologous patellar tendon transplant for reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament were examined postoperatively. The time between operation and MR study was up to 3 weeks in ten patients, between 3 and 35 weeks in three patients and more than 35 weeks in five patients. In all patients, Gd-DTPA enhancement on the surface of the ligamentous transplant was visualized.

28 patients with a fracture of the distal end of the radius were treated by a T-plate osteosynthesis through the volar approach. There were 7 unstable distal metaphyseal fractures and 21 dislocated intra-articular fractures. 21 patients were investigated 6 months to 8 years after operation according to the scheme of Sarmiento.

Four cases of pisiform fracture are presented. In one case the largest fragment of the pisiform bone with the articular surface was dislocated. After open reduction, osteosynthesis with K-wires was performed.

This is a report of a seven-year-old polytraumatised boy with perforation of a duodenal stress-ulcer. Aspects of the etiology and pathogenesis were discussed. The main therapeutical efforts by stress-ulcer risk patients consist in an early sufficient shock therapy and adequate stress-ulcer prophylaxis to prevent the origin of stress-ulcers and their complications like bleeding and perforation.

The isometry of the femoral and tibial insertion is of decisive importance for the stability of a prosthetic anterior cruciate ligament. A large number of techniques and instruments have been developed to determine the point of isometric femoral insertion. Experiments with 20 cadaveric knees show that the proximal insertion of the anterior cruciate ligament is accurately reconstructed by means of the surgical procedure briefly presented in this paper; the use of positioners is not necessary.

Reconstruction of the anterior crucial ligament can be performed by using an autogenous transplant from the patellar ligament. Employing postoperative MR investigation, reaction of the non-vascularised tendon was studied. In 16 patients 20 knees were investigated by applying a 1.

Fifty-eight patients underwent intraarticular reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament. This was performed by using an autogenous transplant from the mid portion of the patellar ligament with a proximal and distal bone block, as described by Hertel. For comparison with the conventional X-ray examination, HRCT was performed to study the early postoperative results.

A new X-ray contrast medium is able to produce pictures with expanded contrast and long detention time in arthrography. The new non-ion dimeric contrast was well tolerated by all patients since the half of them shows a high risk for contrast medium.

Certain guidelines may be established for surgical treatment of complex lesions of genicular ligaments. Preferential treatment should be given to the central stabilizers, anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments. Suturing with autologous augmentation is the rule for the anterior cruciate ligament, whereas the posterior cruciate ligament should be stabilised by both suturing and relief, using a transosseous PDS cord.

The effect of oral zinc on the healing of chronic venous leg ulcers has been investigated in 91 hospitalized patients aged approximately 70 years. The patients were divided into three groups: group A consisted of patients with serum zinc concentrations in the upper normal range (Zn greater than or equal to 1.0 mg/l) who received no zinc therapy.
