Extensive ichnologic and sedimentologic datasets were gathered from six localities (Fortune Head, Fortune North, Grand Bank Head, Lewin's Cove, Little Dantzic Cove, and Point May) of the Ediacaran-Cambrian Chapel Island Formation at Burin Peninsula, southeastern Newfoundland, eastern Canada. 1708.2 m of sedimentary strata were logged at a centimeter scale (1:40) using a Jacob staff, in addition to 11.

Repetitive grooming behavior following aversive stimulus coincides with a decrease in anterior hypothalamic area activity.

The anterior hypothalamic area (AHA) is a key brain region for orchestrating defensive behaviors. Using in vivo calcium imaging in mice, we observed that AHA neuronal activity increases during foot shock delivery and foot-shock associated auditory cues. We found that following shock-induced increases in AHA activity, a decrease in activity coincides with the onset of grooming behavior.

Environmental and evolutionary controls in animal-sediment interactions at the onset of the Cambrian explosion.

The Cambrian explosion was a time of groundbreaking ecological shifts related to the establishment of the Phanerozoic biosphere. Trace fossils, which are the products of animals interacting with their substrates, provide a key record of the diversification of the benthos and the evolution of behavioral complexity through this interval. The Chapel Island Formation of Newfoundland in Canada hosts the most extensive trace-fossil record from the latest Ediacaran to Cambrian Age 2, spanning about 20 million years continuously.

Process of development of decentralised clinical trial methodology for cancer clinical trials in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Aim: To develop processes for the development of decentralised clinical trial methodology for Aotearoa New Zealand, focussing on equity of access to cancer clinical trials for Māori, Pacific people, vulnerable communities and those in rural settings.

Methods: A national steering committee supported by Te Aho o Te Kahu - Cancer Control Agency was formed to: guide the adaptation and implementation of overseas decentralised clinical trial models to suit the needs of Aotearoa New Zealand with an equity focus; provide high-level oversight and expertise for direction and development of policies, procedures and infrastructure compliant with ICH GCP R2; and implement a national strategy.

Results: Twelve standard operating procedures were developed, as well as a supervision plan and a glossary.

Purpose: Here we assess whether the volume of cerebral ischemia induced during glioma surgery may negatively impact survival independently of neurological function. We also evaluate the sensitivity of intraoperative MRI (iMRI) in detecting cerebral ischemia during surgery.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 361 cranial surgeries that used a 3 Tesla iMRI.

Background And Objectives: Gross-total resection (GTR) and low residual tumor volume (RTV) have been associated with increased survival in glioblastoma. Largely due to the subjectivity involved, the determination of GTR and RTV remains difficult in the postoperative setting. In response, the objective of this study is to evaluate the clinical efficacy of an easy-to-use MRI metric, called delta T1 (dT1), to quantify extent of resection (EOR) and RTV, in comparison to radiologist impression, to predict overall survival (OS) in glioblastoma patients.

Despite the numerous concepts of caregiving discussed in the literature, there is still no agreed definition and concept of family caregiving from the perspective of Islam. This study aims to comprehensively define family caregiving from Islamic religious and Muslim cultural perspectives. Rodger's evolutionary model was used to generate content by analyzing and redefining concepts.

Objectives: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic resulted in unprecedented tolls on both economies and human life. Healthcare resources needed to be reallocated away from the care of patients and towards supporting the pandemic response. In this systematic review, we explore the impact of resource allocation during the COVID-19 pandemic on the screening, diagnosis, management and outcomes of patients with lung cancer during the pandemic.

Consecutive resections of double pituitary adenoma for resolution of Cushing disease: illustrative case.

Background: Double pituitary adenomas are rare presentations of two distinct adenohypophyseal lesions seen in <1% of surgical cases. Increased rates of recurrence or persistence are reported in the resection of Cushing microadenomas and are attributed to the small tumor size and localization difficulties. The authors report a case of surgical treatment failure of Cushing disease because of the presence of a secondary pituitary adenoma.

"Embracing The Faith": The Contribution of Islamic Beliefs on the Provision of Care for People with Parkinson's Disease in New Zealand and Indonesia.

This study examines the impact of Islamic beliefs on the caregiving practices of individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in Indonesia and New Zealand. The study sample comprised seventeen caregivers who participated in semi-structured interviews which were analysed using the method of inductive thematic analysis. The study delineated three overarching themes: value-driven caregiving, comprehensive care and caregivers strengthened by faith and practice.

Functional and Radiographic Outcomes of Cavernous Meningiomas Based on Treatment Modality.

 Cavernous sinus meningiomas (CSMs) are challenging given their proximity to neurovascular structures. Treatments include surgery, radiation, or observation. There are little data comparing outcomes based on treatment.

Open surgical ligation of a thoracic spinal epidural arteriovenous fistula causing thoracic myelopathy: illustrative case.

Background: Spinal epidural arteriovenous fistulas (eAVFs) are rare spinal vascular malformations characterized by an abnormal connection from the paraspinal and paravertebral system to the epidural venous plexus. This contrasts with the more frequently seen spinal dural AVF, where the fistula is entirely intradural. Although endovascular repair is commonly performed for spinal eAVF, few cases require open surgical ligation.

Anterior hypothalamic parvalbumin neurons are glutamatergic and promote escape behavior.

The anterior hypothalamic area (AHA) is a critical structure for defensive responding. Here, we identified a cluster of parvalbumin-expressing neurons in the AHA (AHA) that are glutamatergic with fast-spiking properties and send axonal projections to the dorsal premammillary nucleus (PMD). Using in vivo functional imaging, optogenetics, and behavioral assays, we determined the role of these AHA neurons in regulating behaviors essential for survival.

Cervical spine spondylodiscitis: Review of literature on current treatment strategies.

Infections of the spine are an ever-increasing health concern requiring an often complex and prolonged treatment that can lead to significant morbidity. Of particular interest is the cervical spine where there is an increase rate of post-infectious deformity, secondary neurological deficits and substantially higher rates of associated morbidity and mortality than the thoracic or lumbar spine. In this review, we explore the diagnosis and treatment of spondylodiscitis with particular focus on the cervical spine.

Development and testing of a patient-reported experience measure for cancer: A cross-sectional survey.

Aim: To develop and psychometrically test the Patient-reported Experience Measure-Cancer (PREM-C), reflecting patients' perceptions of cancer care experiences according to the Institute of Medicine domains.

Design: A three-phase cross-sectional survey was conducted.

Background: The incidence of breast cancer in younger women, that is, aged 50 years or younger, in Hong Kong is increasing. The Internet-based Younger Women's Wellness After Cancer Program (YWWACP) is a whole-lifestyle intervention that can help young women to manage their health and risks of chronic diseases.

Objectives: The study aimed to test the acceptability and feasibility of the culturally adapted YWWACP in Hong Kong (YWWACPHK) and to evaluate its preliminary effects in improving health-related quality of life, distress, sexual function, menopausal symptoms, dietary intake, physical activity, and sleep among younger Chinese women with breast cancer.

An evaluation of radiation therapy patient body mass index trends and potential impact on departmental resource planning.

Introduction: Radiation therapy (RT) offers a less invasive management option for bariatric cancer patients. As the proportion of Australians categorised overweight or obese approaches 70%, it is not well understood how this growth will impact RT departments. The aim of this study was to evaluate the current and potential future body mass index (BMI) of RT patients at one centre, with the purpose of identifying variables that may impact resource planning decisions.

Delayed Postoperative Tension Pneumocephalus Treated With a Subdural Evacuating Port System: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.

Tension pneumocephalus (TP) is a rare neurosurgical emergency due to the rise of intracranial pressure from air in the cranial cavity. Tension pneumocephalus' clinical presentation ranges from headache, visual alterations, altered mental status, and death. Given its nonspecific clinical presentation, tension pneumocephalus is usually diagnosed via computed tomography (CT) imaging.

Predictors and Complications of Cerebrospinal Fluid Leak after Endoscopic Endonasal Surgery: A Single Institution Retrospective Review.

 The endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) is a commonly used technique for resection of sellar, suprasellar, and anterior fossa masses. One of the most troublesome complications of this technique is cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak. In this study, we evaluate the risk factors and consequences of CSF leak on surgical outcomes.

Endoscopic endonasal resection of a primary intraosseous clival myxoma: illustrative case.

Background: An intraosseous myxoma is a rare, benign mesenchymal tumor that penetrates the bone. The occurrence of an intraosseous myxoma in the clivus is a unique presentation of the disease.

Observations: The authors discuss the case of a 15-year-old male with a new diagnosis of a primary clival intraosseous myxoma presenting with cranial nerve VI palsy.
