Claim Suppression of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses Among Precariously Employed Immigrant Workers in Ontario.

Employers sometimes hinder the appropriate reporting of claims to workers' compensation, a phenomenon termed claim suppression. While the magnitude of claim suppression is difficult to quantify, various reports have identified it as a significant concern. In response, several Canadian jurisdictions, such as Ontario in 2015, introduced legislation addressing claim suppression.

Treatment of refractory poly articular course juvenile idiopathic arthritis with tofacitinib: Extended experience from Bangladesh.

Background: Juvenile Idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is one of the most common chronic diseases in children. It still remains a challenge to treat refractory poly-articular course JIA patients, especially in Bangladesh, where patients from low socio-economic backgrounds are unable to manage biological agents. Tofacitinib is one of the alternative options to biological agents, which can be taken orally and is cost effective.

A Giant Non-Traumatic Splenic Pseudocyst Successfully Treated With Cyst Aspiration and Partial Cystectomy: A Case Report and Review of Literature.

Splenic cysts are extremely rare entities that typically result from prior abdominal trauma, infections, and degenerative diseases. They are divided into two categories: true cysts with epithelial lining, and false pseudocysts without epithelial lining, which is more common than true cysts. We describe here a case of a non-traumatic splenic pseudocyst in a healthy 29-year-old male patient, who presented with left upper quadrant abdominal pain.

The HyperPed-COVID international registry: Impact of age of onset, disease presentation and geographical distribution on the final outcome of MIS-C.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to establish an international multicenter registry to collect data on patients with Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), in order to highlight a relationship between clinical presentation, age of onset and geographical distribution on the clinical outcome.

Study Design: Multicenter retrospective study involving different international societies for rare immunological disorders.1009 patients diagnosed with MIS-C between March and September 2022, from 48 centers and 22 countries were collected.

The Health and Safety Experiences of Precariously Employed Bangladeshi Immigrant Workers in Toronto During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Racialized immigrants in Canada have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our qualitative, community-based study with South Asian Women and Immigrants' Services examined the impact of the second and third waves of the pandemic on the work and health of precariously employed Bangladeshi immigrant women and men in Toronto. Our study is based on interviews and focus group discussions with 45 workers, all conducted in Bangla, and 11 key informants.

Efficacy and safety of tofacitinib in the treatment of refractory cases of polyarticular course juvenile idiopathic arthritis: A study from Bangladesh.

Background: Biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) are treatment options for refractory juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) cases which cannot be afforded by the majority. Tofacitinib is a novel Janus kinase inhibitor, which is reported to be a cost-effective oral alternative to biologics. This prospective observational study was carried out to observe the efficacy and safety of tofacitinib in refractory polyarticular course JIA patients.

Identifying core competency areas to assess communication skills among interns at a tertiary teaching hospital in southern India.

Background.: We aimed to develop a teaching-learning and evaluation programme on communication skills for interns. Core competency areas for focused communication skills training and assessment were identified to achieve the obective.

Macrophage Activation Syndrome in Paediatric Rheumatic Diseases.

Macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) is a potentially fatal complication of rheumatic disorders, which commonly occurs in systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (sJIA).This study was carried out with the aims of describing the clinical features, laboratory findings and outcomes of MAS associated with paediatric rheumatic diseases in the Department of Paediatrics, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and compare these results with previous studies on MAS. This retrospective study was conducted in the paediatric rheumatology wing of the Department of Paediatrics, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Male gender identity in children with 46,XX DSD with congenital adrenal hyperplasia after delayed presentation in mid-childhood.

Background/aim: Girls with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) diagnosed at birth have some masculine behaviors but rarely convert to male gender. In developing countries, however, diagnosis and treatment (with secondary androgen suppression) are delayed. We aimed to assess effect of delayed treatment of CAH on gender identity.

Cystoscopic removal of leeches in the lower urinary tract: our experience.

Introduction: The purpose of this study is to describe the experience of managing leech infestation in lower urinary tract from a tropical country.

Materials And Methods: Medical records (January 2002 to December 2010) of children with history of leech infestation in the urinary system, admitted in the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Chittagong Medical College & Hospital, Chittagong, Bangladesh were reviewed. All patients underwent saline irrigation through urethral catheter.

Management of male H-type anorectal malformations.

Purpose: H-type anorectal malformations (ARM) are extremely rare in males. Herein, we have described our experience of managing this variety.

Methods: From September 1993 to February 2009, seven boys with H-type ARM were managed in the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Chittagong Medical College and Hospital, Chittagong, Bangladesh.

Rectovestibular fistula with vaginal malformations.

Anorectal malformations are associated with other anomalies among which vaginal malformations are occasionally encountered and may go unnoticed by the primary physician. Between January 1998 and December 2003, 563 cases of anorectal malformations were managed in Pediatric Surgery Department, Chittagong Medical College & Hospital, Chittagong, Bangladesh. Among these, five cases of rectovestibular fistula were associated with vaginal malformations.
