Introduction: To investigate the longitudinal changes in renal function and associated factors after intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) administration in diabetic macular edema (DME).
Methods: A total of 108 patients who had received intravitreal ranibizumab or aflibercept for DME and had follow-up visits for at least 2 years in one hospital were retrospectively enrolled. The estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) at baseline and during the follow-up period and receipt of any renal replacement therapy were recorded.
Background And Aims: Patients with left-sided breast cancer receive a higher mean heart dose (MHD) after radiotherapy, with subsequent risk of ischaemic heart disease. However, the optimum dosimetric predictor among cardiac substructures has not yet been determined.
Methods And Results: This study retrospectively reviewed 2158 women with breast cancer receiving adjuvant radiotherapy.
Acoustophoresis is an effective technique for particle manipulation. Acoustic radiation force scales with particle volume, enabling size separation. Yet, isolating sub-micron particles remains a challenge due to the acoustic streaming effect (ASE).

To achieve better therapeutic benefits, we explored the effects of daily 1-h sessions of visual stimulation with continuous light or LED light flickering at 24, 40, or 80 Hz for a period of five weeks in 5xFAD mice. As expected, 33-week-old 5xFAD mice but not control wild-type mice of the same age exhibited an abundance of swollen microglia and Aβ plaques in the visual cortex and hippocampus.

However, the factors influencing the motivation of students to join such programs remain unexplored.
Objective: To investigate the relationship among expectancies for success, subjective task value, and the intention to participate in an internationalization-at-home program, and to identify key factors predicting such an intention among undergraduate nursing students.
The effective treatment of breast cancer remains a profound clinical challenge, especially due to drug resistance and metastasis which unfortunately arise in many patients. The transcription inhibitor 5,6-dichloro-1-beta-D-ribofuranosyl-benzimidazole (DRB), as a selective inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinase 9, was shown to be effective in inducing apoptosis in various hematopoietic malignancies. However, the anticancer efficacy of DRB against breast cancer is still unclear.

NiP coating has excellent physicochemical properties and is one of the best materials for coating optical components. When processing NiP coatings on optical components, single-point diamond turning (SPDT) is generally adopted as the first process. However, SPDT turning produces periodic turning patterns on the workpiece, which impacts the optical performance of the component.

As the stabilizing amphiphile accumulates on nanoparticle surfaces, the fluorine-18-labeled polymer should enable to track the distribution of the CaP-NPs in brain tumors by positron emission tomography after application by convection-enhanced delivery. At first, an unmodified teroligomer was synthesized with a number average molecular weight of 4550 ± 20 Da by free radical polymerization of a defined composition of methoxy-PEG-monomethacrylate, tetradecyl acrylate and maleic anhydride.

However, abrasive belt grinding has not been well applied in the field of ultra-precision optical processing, due to the lack of a stable and controllable removal function. In this paper, based on the idea of deterministic machining, the time-controlled grinding (TCG) method based on the abrasive belt as a machining tool was applied to the deterministic machining of optical components.

Human beings heavily depend on binocular vision to understand the dynamically changing world. Similarly, intelligent robots or machines must also have the innate capabilities of perceiving knowledge from visual signals.

Ubiquitin-specific protease 22 (USP22) is a member of the ubiquitin specific protease family (ubiquitin-specific protease, USPs), the largest subfamily of deubiquitinating enzymes, and plays an important role in the treatment of tumors. USP22 is also expressed in the heart. However, the role of USP22 in heart disease remains unclear.

Metastasis suppressors encode proteins that inhibit the metastatic cascade independent of the primary tumor growth. Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) is one of the promising metastasis suppressor candidates.

Methods: Women with cephalic fetuses delivered vaginally by forceps from July 2020 to June 2022 were recruited prospectively.
Circulating uremic toxin indoxyl sulfate (IS), endothelial cell (EC) dysfunction, and decreased nitric oxide (NO) bioavailability are found in chronic kidney disease patients. NO nitrosylates/denitrosylates a specific protein's cysteine residue(s), forming S-nitrosothios (SNOs), and the decreased NO bioavailability could interfere with NO-mediated signaling events. We were interested in investigating the underlying mechanism(s) of the reduced NO and how it would regulate the S-nitrosylation of tissue transglutaminase (TG2) and its substrates on glycolytic, redox and inflammatory responses in normal and IS-induced EC injury.

Epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor (EGFR) mutations are the most common driver mutations of LUAD, and they have been identified as important therapeutic targets by EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). The proinflammatory cytokine, interleukin (IL)-17A, and IL-17A-producing cells were reported to be elevated in the tumor microenvironment and peripheral blood of NSCLC patients and to be correlated with tumor progression and poor prognoses.

We sought to examine the role of histone deacetylase (HDAC) 10 as an epigenetic regulator that governs macrophage M2 program and promotes airway inflammation in asthma, and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms.

PP2A is a heterotrimer comprising the dimeric AC core enzyme and a highly variable regulatory B subunit. Distinct B subunits help the core enzyme gain full activity toward specific substrates and contribute to diverse cellular roles of PP2A.

We retrospectively reviewed the medical records from November 2020 to November 2022 of 68 pediatric patients with unilateral myopia in Fujian Provincial Hospital who had been wearing an orthokeratology lens for more than 1 year. The 68 myopic eyes were included in the treatment group, while the 68 healthy, untreated contralateral eyes were included in the control group.

In this study, we propose to leverage high-quality, patient-level concurrent registries to enhance clinical trials and illustrate the impact on trial design for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The proposed methodology was evaluated in a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial.

However, previous research on food reward conditioning in individuals with binge-eating is scarce. The present study examined the Pavlovian-instrumental transfer (PIT) effects in individuals with recurrent binge-eating.

Social novelty is a cognitive process that is essential for animals to interact strategically with conspecifics based on their prior experiences. The commensal microbiome in the gut modulates social behavior through various routes, including microbe-derived metabolite signaling. Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), metabolites derived from bacterial fermentation in the gastrointestinal tract, have been previously shown to impact host behavior.
