We report a case of a 26-year-old female patient who was referred to our hospital with a painless jaundice. By means of an ERCP we found a nearly complete occlusion of the common bile duct caused by a tumor. After stenting and normalization of the cholestasis parameters, additional investigations such as endosonography, cholangioscopy and MR angiography no longer showed any manifestation of the tumor.

TSH-measurement before and after stimulation with TRH proved to be of good value in the diagnosis of thyroid dysfunctions, better than other parameters including J-131-test. During treatment of hypothyroid disorder TRH-test, often repeatable, allows estimation of T4 substitution dosis. In Graves disease therapy, furthermore, should be judged by in-vitro or clinical parameters.
View Article and Find Full Text PDF2-(14C) Thiamazol (Favistan) was administered intravenously in a therapeutically subthreshold dose to seven control subjects and five patients with hyperthyroidism. In both groups the reduction of plasma radioactivity occurred with at least two exponentials. Half-life was calculated to be 35 minutes for the faster and 28 hours for the slower process in the control group, and 12 minutes and about 20 hours, respectively, in the hyperthyroid patients.

In 26 patients with progressive endocrine exophthalmos thyroidectomy was performed after conservative treatment had failed. This treatment was successful in all but two patients. The success of therapy depended on the complete removal of all thyroid tissue.
