Survey on current clinical practice in geriatric oncology: the individual experience in five European Cancer Centers.

Purpose: To gather information from clinicians on how geriatric oncology models of care have emerged in different European countries and describe current practice in this clinical area.

Methods: A semi-structured online interview was performed, exploring aspects related to implementation, perceived quality of care, and professional satisfaction.

Results: The centers participating in this interview showed significant differences in terms of resource allocation, team members, components of the comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA), and CGA-driven interventions.

Metal dyshomeostasis is a well-established consequence of neurodegenerative diseases and traumatic brain injury. While the significance of metals continues to be uncovered in many neurological disorders, their implication in repetitive mild traumatic brain injury remains uncharted. To address this gap, we characterized the spatial distribution of metal levels (iron, zinc, and copper) using laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry, the profile of metal-binding proteins via size exclusion chromatography-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry and the expression of the major iron storing protein ferritin via western blotting.

Patients And Methods: This phase II study randomized (1:1) patients with HER2+ MBC, aged 70+ or frail 60+, to first line chemotherapy with metronomic oral cyclophosphamide (M) + Trastuzumab (T) and Pertuzumab (P) or TP alone. T-DM1 was offered in case of progression.

Method: Social and clinical qualitative research with 32 residents of a Multiprofessional Residency, carried out from 2017 to 2018. Data production included Institutional Analysis of Professional Practices, document analysis; investigator's diary; and observation.

Protein phosphorylation plays a role in many important cellular functions such as cellular plasticity, gene expression, and intracellular trafficking. All of these are dysregulated in Huntington's disease (HD), a devastating neurodegenerative disorder caused by an expanded CAG repeat in exon 1 of the huntingtin gene. However, no studies have yet found protein phosphorylation differences in preclinical HD mouse models.

Bacteriocins are antimicrobial peptides expressed by bacteria through ribosomal activity. In this study, we analyzed the diversity of bacteriocin-like genes in the Tucuruí-HPP using a whole-metagenome shotgun sequencing approach. Three layers of the water column were analyzed (photic, aphotic and sediment).

The Managing Advanced Cancer Pain Together (MACPT) conversation tool: an evaluation of use in clinical practice.

To investigate use of the 'Managing Advanced Cancer Pain Together' conversation tool between individuals with advanced cancer and healthcare professionals (HCPs) during routine consultations. Twenty-one patients and six HCPs completed questionnaires before and after use of the tool (at their routine consultation 1 and consecutive consultation 2, respectively). Patients and HCPs were satisfied with communication during both consultations.

Differential protein expression due to Se deficiency and Se toxicity in rat liver.

There is a U-shaped dose-response between selenium (Se) status and health outcomes, but underlying metabolic processes are unclear. This study aims to identify candidate proteins in liver regulated by dietary Se, ranging from deficiency to toxic. Male rats (n=4) were fed graded Se concentrations as selenite for 28 days.

Sharing administrative health data with private industry: A report on two citizens' juries.

Background: There is good evidence of both community support for sharing public sector administrative health data in the public interest and concern about data security, misuse and loss of control over health information, particularly if private sector organizations are the data recipients. To date, there is little research describing the perspectives of informed community members on private sector use of public health data and, particularly, on the conditions under which that use might be justified.

Methods: Two citizens' juries were held in February 2020 in two locations close to Sydney, Australia.

Plaques that characterize Alzheimer's disease accumulate over 20 years as a result of decreased clearance of amyloid-β peptides. Such long-lived peptides are subjected to multiple post-translational modifications, in particular isomerization. Using liquid chromatography ion mobility separations mass spectrometry, we characterized the most common isomerized amyloid-β peptides present in the temporal cortex of sporadic Alzheimer's disease brains.

The relationship between the nursing practice environment and five nursing-sensitive patient outcomes in acute care hospitals: A systematic review.

Aim: To synthesize the available evidence on the relationship between the nursing practice environment in acute care hospitals and five selected nursing-sensitive patient outcomes (mortality, medication error, pressure injury, hospital-acquired infection and patient fall).

Design: A quantitative systematic review of literature was conducted using the PRISMA reporting guidelines (PROSPERO: CRD42020143104).

Methods: A systematic review was undertaken up to October 2020 using: CINAHL, MEDLINE and Scopus.
