Background: Fluoxetine, a serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressant, raises extracellular serotonin levels and promotes angiogenesis and neurogenesis. Numerous animal models have shown its beneficial effects on recovery from peripheral nerve injury.

Purpose: The primary objective of this study was to analyze the influence of fluoxetine on the sensory-motor function recovery of the sciatic nerve in Wistar rats after axonotmesis.

NSAIDs, analgesics, antiplatelet drugs, and decline in renal function: a retrospective case-control study with SIDIAP database.

Introduction: We aim to explore the association between NSAIDs consumption, Symptomatic Slow Action Drugs for Osteoarthritis (SYSADOA), analgesics, and antiplatelet drugs, and decline in renal function by estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR).

Methods: We performed a case-control study using the SIDIAP database in Catalonia. We considered defined cases, patients with an eGFR value ≤ 45 ml/min/1.

This study examined the frequency of the most demanding scenarios (MDS) during official soccer matches using rolling averages over 1, 5, and 10 min. Forty-two Under-19 players from different positions (central defenders, full-backs, central midfielders, wide midfielders, offensive midfielders, and forwards) were monitored across 27 matches using GPS to track distance covered, high-speed running, sprint distance, accelerations, and decelerations. Intensity thresholds were established based on percentiles (0-25, 25-50, 50-75, 75-100, and ≥100).

Aneurysmal bone cyst is a rare osteolytic lesion of uncertain etiology, commonly observed in the lower limbs, with only 1-2% of reports in gnathic bones. We present the case of a 27-year-old male patient referred to the oral and maxillofacial surgery and traumatology service due to complaints of paresthesia in the mental region and increased mandibular volume. Physical examination revealed midline shift and hard consistency.

C NMR as an analytical tool for the detection of carbonic acid and pK determination.

NMR spectroscopy has become a standard technique in studies both on carbon capture and storage. C NMR allows the detection of two peaks for carbonated aqueous samples: one for CO and another one for the species H CO , HCO , and CO -herein collectively named H CO . The chemical shift of this second peak depends on the molar fraction of the three species in equilibrium and has been used to assess the equilibrium between HCO and CO .

The aim of the present systematic review and meta-analysis was to compare the biological and cellular properties of advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF) to those of other platelet concentrates. Searches were conducted on the PubMed/Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase and LILACS databases using a search strategy oriented by the guiding question.

Clinicopathological characteristics of odontogenic carcinosarcoma: A systematic review.

Background: The aim of the present systematic review was to summarize evidence on odontogenic carcinosarcoma, analyzing clinical, epidemiological, imaging, histopathological, immunohistochemical, therapeutic, and prognostic features of this tumor.

Materials And Methods: This systematic review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Experimental in vitro models that faithfully capture the hallmarks and tumor heterogeneity of pediatric brain cancers are limited and hard to establish. We present a protocol that enables efficient generation, expansion, and biobanking of pediatric brain cancer organoids.

Improving hydrodynamic injection in capillary electrophoresis by using the integral of pressure.

A careful analysis of the typical devices and conditions used during hydrodynamic injection in capillary electrophoresis shows that the Hagen-Poiseuille model for the laminar flow is valid, even during the transitions of pressure. Therefore, the monitoring of pressure becomes a reliable approach to evaluate the effective injected volume, because the volume is proportional to the integral of pressure (IoP) over time. A piezoresistive sensor was used to monitor the air pressure at headspace of the sample vial.

Medulloblastoma and high-grade glioma represent the most aggressive and frequent lethal solid tumors affecting individuals during pediatric age. During the past years, several models have been established for studying these types of cancers. Human organoids have recently been shown to be a valid alternative model to study several aspects of brain cancer biology, genetics and test therapies.

The Effect of Advanced Platelet-Rich Fibrin in Tissue Regeneration in Reconstructive and Graft Surgery: Systematic Review.

This systematic review answered the guiding question using the PICO system: "What are the effects of advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF) on alveolar ridge preservation and tissue gain in reconstructive and jaw graft surgery?" Searches were performed in the PubMed|MEDLINE, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and LILACS|bvs databases. In total, 573 articles were found in the initial search, and 564 were evaluated after the removal of duplicates, of which 5 randomized controlled trials met the eligibility criteria and were included 2 studies investigated the effect of A-PRF on the preservation of the bone ridge, 1 study evaluated the tissue repair after tooth extraction with A-PRF, 1 evaluated the peri-implant gap filling with A-PRF-xenograft mixture, and other the A-PRF on the treatment of alveolar osteitis. Advanced-PRF preparation protocol varied between the included studies from 8 to 13 minutes of centrifugation, at 1300 RPM (200 g ).

Philaenus spumarius L., the main vector of Xylella fastidiosa (Wells) in Europe, is a univoltine species that overwinters in the egg stage, and its nymphs emerge in late winter or spring. Predicting the time of egg hatching is essential for determining the precise times for deploying control strategies against insect pests.

Evaluating the effect of ocular aberrations on the simulated performance of a new refractive IOL design using adaptive optics.

Adaptive optics (AO) visual simulators are excellent platforms for non-invasive simulation visual performance with new intraocular lens (IOL) designs, in combination with a subject own ocular aberrations and brain. We measured the through focus visual acuity in subjects through a new refractive IOL physically inserted in a cuvette and projected onto the eye's pupil, while aberrations were manipulated (corrected, or positive/negative spherical aberration added) using a deformable mirror (DM) in a custom-developed AO simulator. The IOL increased depth-of-focus (DOF) to 1.

Clinical utility of liquid biopsy and integrative genomic profiling in early-stage and oligometastatic cancer patients treated with radiotherapy.

Background: Liquid biopsy and Integrative Genomic Profiling (IGP) are yet to be implemented into routine Radiation Oncology. Here we assess the utility of germline, tumour and circulating cell-free DNA-based genomic analyses for the clinical management of early-stage and oligometastatic cancer patients treated by precision radiotherapy.

Methods: We performed germline, tissue- and liquid biopsy NGS panels on 50 early-stage/oligometastatic cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy.

A series of novel 2,9-[(substituted-aminomethyl)]-4,7-phenyl-1,10-phenanthroline derivatives was designed, synthesized, and evaluated in vitro against three protozoan parasites (, and ). Pharmacological results showed antiprotozoal activity with IC values in the sub and μM range. In addition, the in vitro cytotoxicity of these original molecules was assessed with human HepG2 cells.

Dentofacial deformities are characterized by abnormalities in craniofacial development that affects the individual's skeletal and occlusion, often causing functional and esthetic problems. In literature, there is an involvement of polymorphisms in estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1) and estrogen receptor 2 (ESR2) genes in craniofacial measurements. The aim of this study was to evaluate a possible association between polymorphisms in ESR1 (rs2234693 and rs9340799) and ESR2 (rs1256049 and rs4986938) genes with cephalometric measurements in individuals with dentofacial deformities.

Qualitative and quantitative aspects of time-, charge-, and mobility-based electropherograms.

The migration process in capillary electrophoresis is obtained by using a high-voltage power supply, and the basic idea is to keep the control on the migration velocity of the analytes by controlling either the applied voltage or current. The effectiveness of this control has impact on the resulting electropherogram and, thus, in the identification and quantification of the analytes. Although the usual electropherogram is the record of the detector signal as a function of time, other two domains should be considered: charge and mobility.

Feeding behaviour and mortality of Philaenus spumarius exposed to insecticides and their impact on Xylella fastidiosa transmission.

Background: Insecticides are essential, though controversial tools in modern pest management. Insecticides can slow the spread of key vector-borne plant pathogens, but often lead to inconsistent results given that insecticide use is generally focused on acute toxicity under no-choice conditions. Here, we analysed the lethal (survival) and sublethal (feeding behaviour) effects of six commercial products (acetamiprid, deltamethrin, spinosad, sulfoxaflor, pyrethrin and kaolin) on Philaenus spumarius, vector of the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa.

Association of the Genetic Variation in the Long Non-Coding RNA FENDRR with the Risk of Developing Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.

Background: In around 40−60% of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) cases pathogenic variants are not identified. Our aim was to evaluate the possible association of lncRNAs with the risk of developing HCM. Methods: We sequenced 10 lncRNAs coding genes that have been associated with cardiovascular disease in a discovery cohort (238 HCM patients and 212 controls) by NGS, and genotyped rs74035787 G>A and rs1424019 A>G polymorphism in a validation cohort (962 HCM patients and 923 controls).
