The Incidence and Morphology of Deformational Plagiocephaly in Unicoronal Synostosis.

It has been our observation that unicoronal synostosis and deformational plagiocephaly (DP) are not mutually exclusive. The incidence and phenotypical manifestations of a patient presenting with both conditions have not been studied previously. The authors performed a retrospective review of patients presenting with unicoronal synostosis, examining their 3DCT scans for the presence of DP and assessing their endocranial and orbital morphology.

Heterozygous FGFR3 c.138G>A Mutation Presenting With Achondroplasia and Hemifacial Microsomia.

We present a case of a patient with achondroplasia, hemifacial microsomia and an fibroblast growth factor receptor3 c.138G>A mutation. An association between the 2 conditions has not been previously described, but there is biological plausibility that the etiology of the 2 conditions is linked.

PRIMARY LASER PHOTOCOAGULATION FOR THE TREATMENT OF GIANT RETINAL TEARS.

Purpose: Laser photocoagulation has typically been used as an adjunctive treatment to pars planar vitrectomy in achieving retinopexy in the treatment of giant retinal tears. We describe three cases where the giant retinal tear was treated with laser photocoagulation alone.

Methods: A retrospective case report of three patients with giant retinal tears who underwent primary laser photocoagulation.

Surgical Correction of Giant Fornix Syndrome.

Purpose: To describe a surgical procedure and its outcomes for the management of chronic pseudomembranous kerato-conjunctivitis secondary to giant fornix syndrome (GFS).

Methods: Retrospective case series of 6 patients undergoing fornix shortening surgery for giant fornix syndrome.

Results: Surgery produced complete resolution of symptoms in 5/6 (83%) patients and complete relief prior to partial relapse in 1.

Design: Independent cross-sectional surveys.

Methods: This survey consists of 2 cross-sectional observational studies.

Visual Acuity, Quality of Life and Visual Function Outcomes after Cataract Surgery in Bali.

Purpose: To assess post-cataract surgery intermediate-term (>6 months) data of visual acuity (VA), surgical complications, refractive outcomes, quality of life (QOL) and visual function (VF) from a non-governmental organization program in Indonesia.

Methods: Retrospective cohort study design. Participants were a selection of patients who underwent cataract surgery by the John Fawcett Foundation between 2006 and 2011, with at least 6 months follow-up.

Change in vision after retinal pigment epithelium tear following the use of anti-VEGF therapy for age-related macular degeneration.

Purpose: We investigated visual acuity outcomes and their associations in the setting of retinal pigment epithelium tear (RPET) following the use of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) agents.

Methods: This retrospective review included all patients treated for neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) with an anti-VEGF agent who subsequently developed an RPET. All patients who developed an RPET were identified and outcome measures data were recorded and analysed.
