Background: The objective of this study was to assess the likelihood of acute appendicitis (AA) in children presenting with abdominal symptoms at the emergency department (ED), based on their prior primary care (PC) consultation history.

Methods: Between February and June 2021, we prospectively enrolled all children presenting at the ED with acute abdominal pain indicative of possible acute appendicitis (AA). Subsequently, they were categorized into three groups: those assessed by a PC physician (PG), those brought in by their family without a prior consultation (FG), and those admitted after a PC consultation without being assessed as such.

The position during urine sample collection from young precontinent children through a bag does not limit contamination rates: Results from a randomized controlled trial: Does infant position influence quality of urine collection?

Aim: Despite its limitation, bag collection is still widely used for a preliminary urine screening test in non-toilet-trained children suspected of febrile urinary tract infection. A previous study conducted by our group raised the hypothesis that the absence of direct contact between urine and the perinea during urine collection could limit urine contamination by perineal flora. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the patient's position during urine collection (upright standing position versus free position) on the rate of contaminated urine samples in non-toilet-trained children with suspected febrile urinary tract infection.

Background: Fibromyalgia is a chronic painful condition without real, effective treatment. The administration of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has been shown to have a therapeutic effect on pain, but there are still questions about the maintenance of its effect over time. Continuation of the treatment upon clinical response through maintenance sessions is promising and merits further exploration.

Patients And Methods: We conducted a monocentric, prospective, observational, before-after case-only study in 32 patients with a loss of the ability to self-feed. The primary objective was to assess the change of food praxis using the Blandford scale at 3 weeks after changing the food plate.

Introduction: Few studies have investigated the effect of electromagnetic waves on the human fetus whereas nowadays mobile phone use is ubiquitous. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between mobile phone use by pregnant women and fetal development during pregnancy in the general population.

Material And Methods: Data came from the NéHaVi cohort ("prospective follow-up, from intrauterine development to the age of 18 years, for children born in Haute-Vienne"), a prospective, longitudinal, multicenter (three maternity units in Haute-Vienne) observational cohort focusing on children born between April 2014 and April 2017.

Objectives: Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) has been associated with alcohol dependence and appear to vary after withdrawal, although the link with the withdrawal outcome on the long term is unknown. We aimed to assess the evolution of BDNF levels during the six months following withdrawal and determine the association with the status of alcohol consumption.

Methods: Serum BDNF levels of alcohol-dependent patients ( = 248) and biological and clinical parameters were determined at the time of alcohol cessation (D0), 14 days (D14), 28 days (D28), and 2, 4, and 6 months after (M2, M4, M6).

Background: We know the efficacy of daylight phototherapy dynamic (DL-PDT) in the treatment of actinic keratosis (AK). But the almost studies have compared daylight with red light using methyl aminolevulinate cream and not with blue light. PDT with blue light is another conventional PDT that is effective in the treatment of AKs.

Pain experienced by infants and toddlers at urine collection bag removal: A randomized, controlled, clinical trial.

Background: In pre-continent children, collection bags are frequently used as a first-line option to obtain a urine specimen. This practice, acknowledged by several guidelines for the step of UTI screening, is driven by a perception of the technique as being more convenient and less painful. However, our own experience led us to consider bag removal as a painful experience.
