Bisphenol S (BPS) has attracted much attention as an emerging hazardous contaminant due to its endocrine disruption and oncogenic effects. Although white-rot fungi have remarkable bioremediation capabilities for some bisphenols, little is known about their performance in BPS degradation. In this study, the newly discovered Phlebia acerina S-LWZ20190614-6 exhibited high capacity to degrade BPS.

Although many algorithms have been developed to reveal their associations with complex diseases by using downstream targets, the upstream (epi)genetic regulatory information has not been sufficiently leveraged to predict the function of lncRNAs in various biological processes. Therefore, we present FunlncModel, a machine learning-based interpretable computational framework, which aims to screen out functional lncRNAs by integrating a large number of (epi)genetic features and functional genomic features from their upstream/downstream multi-omic regulatory networks.

Background: Growing evidence suggests that direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) may be suitable for cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT). The optimal strategy regarding lead-in parenteral anticoagulation (PA) prior to DOAC is unknown.
Methods: In this post hoc analysis of the retrospective ACTION-CVT study, we compared patients treated with DOACs as part of routine care: those given "very early" DOAC (no PA), "early" (<5 days PA) and "delayed" (5-21 days PA).

, a macrofungal species in the , , is known to enhance the nutritional and bioactive properties of rice through co-fermentation; however, its own secondary metabolites are not well understood. In this study, an integrative analysis of transcriptome and metabolome data revealed that the accumulation of steroids, steroid derivatives, and triterpenoids in peaks during the mid-growth stage, while the genes associated with these metabolites show higher expression levels from the early to mid-growth stages. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis identified several modules containing candidate genes involved in the synthesis of steroids, steroid derivatives, and triterpenoids.

Case Presentation: A 66-year-old previously well male presenting with two episodes of left-sided spreading sensory symptoms, found to be secondary to ICVT from extrinsic compression by an arachnoid cyst.
Key Teaching Points: Early identification of structural abnormalities causing extrinsic venous compression and ICVT or cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is important for alternative treatment options and to avoid unnecessary testing.
Background And Purpose: Carotid blowout syndrome (CBS) is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication that can occur in patients with head and neck cancer (HNC), especially with a history of radiotherapy. This study aimed to review and initially compare managements for post-radiation CBS in patients with HNC.
Materials And Methods: A systematic review of published studies was performed.
Gut flora is considered to modulate lipid transport from the intestine into the bloodstream, and thus may potentially participate in the development of GDM. Although previous studies have shown that the intestinal microbiota influences lipid transport and metabolism in GDM, the precise mechanisms remain elusive. To address this, we used a high-fat diet (HFD)-induced GDM mouse model and conducted 16s rRNA sequencing and fecal metabolomics to assess gut microbial community shifts and associated metabolite changes.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major public health problem worldwide. When CKD patients progress to the stage of kidney failure, kidney replacement therapy (KRT) or conservative treatment (palliative or non-dialysis treatment) will be needed. The risk prediction models of chronic kidney failure have been developed in recent years.

To explore potential opportunities for earlier diagnosis, we analyzed healthcare interactions in the week prior to hospitalization for patients admitted with incident CVT in British Columbia (BC).
Methods: We constructed a population-based cohort (2000-2017) using linked patient-level administrative data to identify patients aged ≥18 diagnosed with CVT in BC.
Background: Small, randomized trials of patients with cervical artery dissection showed conflicting results regarding optimal stroke prevention strategies. We aimed to compare outcomes in patients with cervical artery dissection treated with antiplatelets versus anticoagulation.
Methods: This is a multicenter observational retrospective international study (16 countries, 63 sites) that included patients with cervical artery dissection without major trauma.
Importance: Ischemic stroke is a serious complication of cardiac intervention, including surgery and percutaneous procedures. Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) is an effective treatment for ischemic stroke and may be particularly important for cardiac intervention patients who often cannot receive intravenous thrombolysis.
Objective: To examine trends in EVT for ischemic stroke during hospitalization of patients with cardiac interventions vs those without in the United States.
, belonging to , , comprises most polypores and corticioid fungi and, also, a few agarics. The latest taxonomic framework accepts 14 families in this order. When further exploring species diversity of , two corticioid specimens collected from China producing cystidia with large umbrella-shaped crystalline heads attracted our attention.

In this study, we focus on the polysaccharides extracted from Ganoderma boninense and their antioxidant activity. Ganoderma boninense is a serious pathogen of oil palms that are cultivated commercially in Southeast Asia.

Objective: Using administrative data, we examined factors associated with mortality in the inpatient setting, at 30 days and at one year following hospital discharge among a large consecutive cohort of Canadian patients with CVT.
Design/methods: CVT patients from British Columbia (BC), Canada from 2000 to 2017 were identified using ICD diagnosis codes from the BC subset of the Canadian Institute for Health Information's Discharge Abstract Database.
Wood-inhabiting fungi have important economic values as well as playing a major ecological role in forest ecosystem cycles. The Dabie Mountains, at the junction of Henan, Hubei, and Anhui Provinces, Central China, provide an ideal climate and favorable niches for the speciation and diversification of various forms of life including fungi. We studied the species diversity and community phylogenetics of wood-inhabiting basidiomycetous fungi that revealed 175 wood-inhabiting basidiomycetous species, of which 20 represented unidentified species, based on morphological and phylogenetic analyses of 575 specimens collected from ten sampling sites.

Chromatin accessibility profiles at single cell resolution can reveal cell type-specific regulatory programs, help dissect highly specialized cell functions and trace cell origin and evolution. Accurate cell type assignment is critical for effectively gaining biological and pathological insights, but is difficult in scATAC-seq. Hence, by extensively reviewing the literature, we designed scATAC-Ref (https://bio.
