The pulps from 20 traumatized permanent maxillary incisors treated endodontically because progressive hard-tissue formation diminished the pulpal lumen, were studied with light microscopy. The tissue changes were characterized by a varied increase in collagen content. A marked increase in collagen content was associated with a marked decrease in number of cells.

Porcine upper small intestine took up radioactive heme in vitro. The binder was localised to the brush borders, was solubilized with Triton X-100 and bound heme with high affinity. The binding was inhibited with non-radioactive heme but not with FeSO4, and control experiments indicated that it was not any of the known heme binders or aggregated heme.

Brescia-Cimino arterio-venous fistulae have been used as blood access for intermittent hemodialysis in 67 patients between 1972-74. The mean age of 32 men and 35 women was 48. Thirty-five patients were dialyzed through an external arterio-venous shunt for as long as 7 years before they received a fistula.

Quinton-Scribner shunts have been used as a reliable access to the blood-stream in 56 patients treated with intermittent hemodialysis in the years 1965-71. The mean age of 29 men and 27 women was 39 years. Two hundred and thirty-two cannulae showed a mean survival time of 11.

Alport's syndrome is a hereditary disease striking cochlea, eye and kidney. The diseased women usually have a nonlethal degree of the kidney disease, but the prognosis for the men is worse. They often die from renal failure before the age of 35.
