The Ising model on networks plays a fundamental role as a testing ground for understanding cooperative phenomena in complex systems. Here we solve the synchronous dynamics of the Ising model on random graphs with an arbitrary degree distribution in the high-connectivity limit. Depending on the distribution of the threshold noise that governs the microscopic dynamics, the model evolves to nonequilibrium stationary states.

Oxidation Products from the Neolignan Licarin A by Biomimetic Reactions and Assessment of in vivo Acute Toxicity.

Licarin A, a dihydrobenzofuranic neolignan presents in several medicinal plants and seeds of nutmeg, exhibits strong activity against protozoans responsible for Chagas disease and leishmaniasis. From biomimetic reactions by metalloporphyrin and Jacobsen catalysts, seven products were determined: four isomeric products yielded by epoxidation from licarin A, besides a new product yielded by a vicinal diol, a benzylic aldehyde, and an unsaturated aldehyde in the structure of the licarin A. The incubation with rat and human liver microsomes partially reproduced the biomimetic reactions by the production of the same epoxidized product of 343 [M + H].

This study compares fundamental frequency (f) and fundamental frequency standard deviation (fSD) of COVID-19 patients with the same parameters in the speech of subjects without COVID-19, and verifies whether there is an effect of age and sex in the patient group. Both groups, subjects with and without COVID-19, are formed by Brazilian Portuguese speakers. Speech samples were obtained from 100 patients with mild to severe symptoms of COVID-19, and 100 healthy subjects.

Estimating the impact of implementation and timing of the COVID-19 vaccination programme in Brazil: a counterfactual analysis.

Background: Vaccines developed between 2020 and 2021 against the SARS-CoV-2 virus were designed to diminish the severity and prevent deaths due to COVID-19. However, estimates of the effectiveness of vaccination campaigns in achieving these goals remain a methodological challenge. Modelling the impact of school reopening and contact tracing strategies on Covid-19 dynamics in different epidemiologic settings in Brazil.

We simulate the impact of school reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic in three major urban centers in Brazil to identify the epidemiological indicators and the best timing for the return of in-school activities and the effect of contact tracing as a mitigation measure. Our goal is to offer guidelines for evidence-based policymaking. We implement an extended SEIR model stratified by age and considering contact networks in different settings - school, home, work, and community, in which the infection transmission rate is affected by various intervention measures.
