Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), the first identified human tumor virus, significantly influences the immune microenvironment of associated cancers. EBV-induced expression of viral antigens by tumor cells triggers immune recognition and elicits a pro-inflammatory response. While mild inflammation may help eliminate malignant cells, intense inflammation can accelerate tumor progression.

Repeated exposure to low-level blast overpressure, frequently experienced during explosive breaching and heavy weapons use in training and operations, is increasingly recognised as a serious risk to the neurological health of military personnel. Although research on the underlying pathobiological mechanisms in humans remains limited, this study investigated the effects of such exposure on circulating molecular biomarkers associated with inflammation, neurovascular damage, and endothelial injury. Blood samples from military breachers were analysed for myeloperoxidase (MPO), matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), and junctional proteins indicative of blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption and endothelial damage, including occludin (OCLN), zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1), aquaporin-4 (AQP4), and syndecan-1 (SD-1).

Traditional mRNA vaccine formulation loaded by lipid nanoparticle (mRNA-LNP) has several shortcomings in clinical application, including the need for cryopreservation, discomfort associated with intramuscular injections, and the risk of liver aggregation. Dissolvable microneedles (DMNs), as a novel transdermal drug delivery platform, can overcome the skin barrier to deliver drugs directly into the skin in a minimally invasive manner. However, mRNA-LNP is unstable and easily degraded during the solidification of DMN.

The efficient removal of CO from exhaust streams and even directly from air is necessary to forestall climate change, lending urgency to the search for new materials that can rapidly capture CO at high capacity. The recent discovery that diamine-appended metal-organic frameworks can exhibit cooperative CO uptake via the formation of ammonium carbamate chains begs the question of whether simple organic polyamine molecules could be designed to achieve a similar switch-like behavior with even higher separation capacities. Here, we present a solid molecular triamine, 1,3,5-tris(aminomethyl)benzene (TriH), that rapidly captures large quantities of CO upon exposure to humid air to form the porous, crystalline, ammonium carbamate network solid TriH(CO)·HO (TriHCO).

The Tailored Activity Program (TAP), an intervention for people living with dementia (PLWD) and their caregivers, has been shown to reduce behavioral symptoms for PLWD and caregiver burden. While TAP is proven as an evidence-based practice (EBP), it has yet to be implemented at scale. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has prioritized the Age-Friendly Health System (AFHS) initiative, providing an opportunity to test implementation of TAP in a complex healthcare system.

Avian navigation has fascinated researchers for many years. Yet, despite a vast amount of literature on the topic it remains a mystery how birds are able to find their way across long distances while relying only on cues available locally and reacting to those cues on the fly. Navigation is multi-modal, in that birds may use different cues at different times as a response to environmental conditions they find themselves in.

Beta event-related spectral perturbation (ERSP), including bilateral movement-related beta desynchronization (MRBD) and post-movement beta synchronization (PMBS), can be evoked by unilateral speed movement. A potential correlation might exist between power (de)synchronization and interhemispheric coherence during movement execution. However, during the PMBS phase, the existence of interhemispheric coupling and the effect of speed on it are largely undiscovered.

Pathogens must precisely tailor their gene expression to cause infection. However, a signaling cascade from host signal to effector production has remained elusive for metazoan pathogens. Here, we show that plants contain molecular signals, termed effectostimulins, that activate the first identified regulator of plant-parasitic nematode effectors.

Extrapolation reasoning in temporal knowledge graphs (TKGs) aims at predicting future facts based on historical data, and finds extensive application in diverse real-world scenarios. Existing TKG reasoning methods primarily focus on capturing the fact evolution to improve entity temporal representations, often overlooking the alignment with query semantics. More importantly, these methods fail to generate explicit inference paths, resulting in a lack of explainability.

Compared with the well-established functions of sympathetic innervation, the role of sensory afferents in adipose tissues remains less understood. Recent work has revealed the anatomical and physiological significance of adipose sensory innervation; however, its molecular underpinning remains unclear. Here, using organ-targeted single-cell RNA sequencing, we identified the mechanoreceptor PIEZO2 as one of the most prevalent receptors in fat-innervating dorsal root ganglia (DRG) neurons.

Substitution of vanadium into earth-abundant maghemite iron oxide introduces cation vacancies that increase Li storage capacity concomitant with a positive shift in its electrochemical potential. Expressing vanadium ferrite (VFeO) as an aerogel offers an opportunity to probe Li storage in this inherently defective spinel from highly disordered (X-ray amorphous) to nanocrystalline. To understand the redox sequence of the host cations, we use X-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy (XANES) obtained using an in-lab X-ray absorption spectrometer in concert with density functional theory calculations to uncover the quantum mechanical-level effects that underpin relevant energy-storage behaviors.

Neck injections of botulinum toxin A (BTX-A) are an effective, minimally invasive approach to improve lower face sagging, especially in Asian populations. However, cases of worsened "double chin" have been observed postinjection, likely due to the platysma muscle type and limited anterior neck injection range, which may result in compensatory platysma contraction. Five female patients who developed aggravated double chin after BTX-A injections in the lower jaw and neck were treated with microneedle BTX-A injections (10-20 U in 3-4 rows with 0.

Aim And Background: Due to the radiosensitivity and deep anatomical location of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), radiotherapy serves as the cornerstone of standardized treatment for this malignancy. Beyond its cytotoxic effects, radiotherapy can serve as an immunological adjuvant by inducing immunogenic cell death (ICD). Dendritic cells (DCs), as potent antigen-presenting cells, play a critical role in tumor immunotherapy, but their exact role in the ICD process of NPC remains unclear.
