Introduction: Localized provoked vulvodynia is a common sexual health condition for which there is a lack of consensus on effective management, even though it can have a significant negative impact on psychological wellbeing, sexual functioning, and quality of life for women and their partners.

Aim: To map the research landscape related to the effectiveness/efficacy of psychological treatments for localized provoked vulvodynia, identify gaps, and make recommendations for future research.

Methods: We used Arksey and O'Malley's approach to conducting a scoping review to identify, organize, and summarize research published between 2010 and 2023 that investigated the efficacy or effectiveness of interventions in the management of localized provoked vulvodynia.

The power of one: A single flanker produces compatibility effects in the episodic flanker task.

The episodic flanker task is an episodic version of the Eriksen and Eriksen (Perception & Psychophysics, 16 (1), 143-149, 1974) perceptual flanker task, showing the same compatibility and distance effects. Subjects are presented with a list followed by a probe display in which one item is cued. The task, to indicate whether the probed letter appeared in the same position in the memory list, requires focusing attention on a single item in memory.

The impact of the time of day on metabolic responses to exercise in adults: A systematic and meta-analysis review.

The aim of the current study is to investigate whether the time of day at which exercise is performed affects metabolic, glucose and insulin responses to exercise in adults. Databases were searched for randomised controlled (parallel and crossover) trials with participants aged from 18 to 65 year, an intervention of any exercise carried out at a specific time of the day and compared to any exercise carried out at a different time of the day. We report 10 experiments exploring the proposition that memory retrieval is perceptual attention turned inward. The experiments adapt the Eriksen and Eriksen perceptual flanker effect to a memory task in which subjects must decide whether a cued item in a probe display appeared in the same position in a memory list. Previous research with this episodic flanker task found distance and compatibility effects like those in the perceptual flanker task, suggesting that the same attentional spotlight is turned inward in memory retrieval.

Liberia developed an evidence-informed package of health services for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) based on the Disease Control Priorities 3 evidence. This paper describes the policy decisions, methods and processes adopted for prioritisation, key features of the package and lessons learnt, with special emphasis on feasibility of implementation. Package design was led by the Ministry of Health.

Audit and feedback to change diagnostic image ordering practices: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Up to 30% of diagnostic imaging (DI) tests may be unnecessary, leading to increased healthcare costs and the possibility of patient harm. The primary objective of this systematic review was to assess the effect of audit and feedback (AF) interventions directed at healthcare providers on reducing image ordering. The secondary objective was to examine the effect of AF on the appropriateness of DI ordering.

Structural characterization of antibody-responses from Zolgensma treatment provides the blueprint for the engineering of an AAV capsid suitable for redosing.

Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) are useful tools to dissect the neutralizing antibody response against the adeno-associated virus (AAV) capsids used as gene therapy delivery vectors. This study structurally characterizes the interactions of 21 human-derived antibodies from patients treated with the AAV9 vector, Zolgensma , utilizing high-resolution cryo-electron microscopy. The majority of the bound antibodies do not conform to the icosahedral symmetry of the capsid, thus requiring localized reconstructions.

Method: This scoping review used Arksey and O'Malley's approach to identify and evaluate literature published between 2010 and 2023 that addressed the question: What is the current evidence on the efficacy or effectiveness of pharmacological treatments in the management of LPV?

Results: This review evaluated 18 papers reporting on the efficacy or effectiveness of oral, topical, and injectable medications.

The gated cascade diffusion model: An integrated theory of decision making, motor preparation, and motor execution.

This article introduces an integrated and biologically inspired theory of decision making, motor preparation, and motor execution. The theory is formalized as an extension of the diffusion model, in which diffusive accumulated evidence from the decision-making process is continuously conveyed to motor areas of the brain that prepare the response, where it is smoothed by a mechanism that approximates a Kalman-Bucy filter. The resulting motor preparation variable is gated prior to reaching agonist muscles until it exceeds a particular level of activation.

No position-specific interference from prior lists in cued recognition: A challenge for position coding (and other) theories of serial memory.

Position-specific intrusions of items from prior lists are rare but important phenomena that distinguish broad classes of theory in serial memory. They are uniquely predicted by position coding theories, which assume items on all lists are associated with the same set of codes representing their positions. Activating a position code activates items associated with it in current and prior lists in proportion to their distance from the activated position.

A review of the enhanced CJD surveillance feasibility study in the elderly in Scotland, UK.

Background: Variant Creutzfeldt - Jakob disease (vCJD) arose from dietary contamination with bovine-spongiform-encephalopathy (BSE). Because of concerns that vCJD-cases might be missed in the elderly, a feasibility study of enhanced CJD surveillance on the elderly was begun in 2016. Recruitment was lower than predicted.

Dual Prognostic Classification of Triple-Negative Breast Cancer by DNA Damage Immune Response and Homologous Recombination Deficiency.

Purpose: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a heterogeneous disease. We previously showed that homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) and the DNA damage immune response (DDIR) signature are prognostic in TNBC. We hypothesized that these biomarkers reflect related but not completely interdependent biological processes, that their combined use would be prognostic, and that simultaneous assessment of the immunologic microenvironment and susceptibility to DNA damaging therapies might be able to identify subgroups with distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Altered Hippocampal and Striatal Expression of Endothelial Markers and VIP/PACAP Neuropeptides in a Mouse Model of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.

Neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus (NPSLE) is one of the most common and severe manifestations of lupus; however, its pathogenesis is still poorly understood. While there is sparse evidence suggesting that the ongoing autoimmunity may trigger pathogenic changes to the central nervous system (CNS) microvasculature, culminating in inflammatory/ischemic damage, further evidence is still needed. In this study, we used the spontaneous mouse model of SLE (NZBWF1 mice) to investigate the expression of genes and proteins associated with endothelial (dys)function: tissue and urokinase plasminogen activators (tPA and uPA), intercellular and vascular adhesion molecules 1 (ICAM-1 and VCAM-1), brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) and neuroprotection/immune modulation: pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating peptide (PACAP), vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), PACAP receptor (PAC1), VIP receptors 1 and 2 (VPAC1 and VPAC2).

Serial attention to serial memory: The psychological refractory period in forward and backward cued recall.

Guided by the conjecture that memory retrieval is attention turned inward, we examined serial attention in serial memory, combining the psychological refractory period (PRP) procedure from attention research with cued recall of two items from brief six-item lists. We report six experiments showing robust PRP effects in cued recall from memory (1-4) and cued report from perceptual displays (5-6), which suggest that memory retrieval requires the same attentional bottleneck as "retrieval" from perception. There were strong direction effects in each memory experiment.
