Context: Children and adolescents with cancer experiencing complex symptoms can benefit from subspeciality palliative care. However, standardized methods of symptom documentation by pediatric palliative care teams are lacking. Understanding current approaches to symptom documentation will inform next steps to optimize symptom support.

Although there are studies on the incidence and risk factors for complications following autologous bone cranioplasty, the study design is typically limited to retrospective analysis with multiple statistical explorations in small cohorts from single centers. Thus, there is a need for systematic analysis of aggregated data to determine the rate and risk factors for cranioplasty complications.

Preliminary studies demonstrated its feasibility and acceptability; however, children and parents identified the need for additional refinements.
Methods: Guided by the Technology Acceptance Model and principles of user-centered design, this study supported refinements to the user interface and evaluation of its usability.
Problem Statement: To define the Oncology Nursing Society Research Agenda for 2024-2027.
Design: An iterative, multiple data sources consolidation through the Research Agenda Project Team.
Data Sources: Previous research priorities, literature review, stakeholder survey, and research priorities from other cancer care organizations and funding agencies.
Introduction: Scientists use donated biospecimens to create organoids, which are miniature copies of patient tumors that are revolutionizing precision medicine and drug discovery. However, biobanking platforms remove donor identifiers to protect privacy, precluding patients from benefiting from their contributions or sharing information that may be relevant to research outcomes. Decentralized biobanking (de-bi) leverages blockchain technology to empower patient engagement in biospecimen research.

One area still not well understood is the development of problematic (or maladaptive and disruptive) media use in children. This research examines the role of attachment security as a central component in the development of problematic media use over time in a sample of 248 parent-child dyads (9.

Background: Pediatric cancer disrupts the lives of siblings in many ways, including physical separations from family and friends that increase risk for distress. Research suggests that siblings use technology and social media to connect with friends and family and seek social support and interaction. However, this may expose siblings to negative online experiences that can erode self-esteem, reducing resilience.

To manage these symptoms, they need to develop self-management behaviors, yet no tool exists to assess these behaviors. The Symptom Self-Management Behaviors Tool (SSMBT) was developed to meet this need.

There is growing consensus that reducing disparities will require a shift from aiming to provide care that is equal, to aiming to provide care that is equitable. The current landscape of metrics and interventions that move beyond equality (i.

We identified if employment disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic affected AYA survivors' financial burden. AYAs who were enrolled in a cancer patient navigation program were e-mailed a survey in fall 2020.

A diagnosis of pediatric cancer can leave healthy siblings with limited access to support. Technology-mediated interpersonal interactions have been noted among adolescent and young adults with cancer and may be an effective source of support for adolescent siblings of children with cancer. In this study, we understand how adolescent siblings use technology to connect with their support network and how their technology use changes after their sibling's cancer diagnosis.

This single-institution project evaluated changes in CLABSI rates following implementation of antibacterial prophylaxis with levofloxacin for patients with high-risk hematologic malignancies. Positive blood culture events meeting National Health Safety Network surveillance criteria to be classified as CLABSIs from January 1, 2006, to December 31, 2019, were included.

Intellectual property law is complicated and nuanced, and poorly understood by many physicians, innovators, and entrepreneurs. Successfully navigating the process of intellectual property protection is critical in facilitating the translation of innovation into clinical practice.

Mobile health technologies can assist children to communicate their symptom experiences in a developmentally appropriate format. However, few investigations have examined how mHealth resources may also assist parents in their caregiver role. The purpose of this study was to explore how a symptom assessment app designed for school-age children with cancer could further inform parents as caregivers.

Methods: We surveyed survivors enrolled in a patient navigation program to obtain self-reports of delayed/skipped cancer care or other care, changes to medication obtainment, and changes to medication use since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Reported financial burdens were defined as financial toxicity in the past 4 weeks (COmprehensive Score for financial Toxicity [COST] ≤ median 21) and material hardships (range = 4-11) since March 2020.
Purpose: Mobile health (mHealth) resources, including apps, are emerging as resources to support children in tracking symptoms and other health-related data. The purpose of this study was to describe symptoms and daily experiences reported by elementary school-age children receiving treatment for cancer using the newly developed Color Me Healthy app.
Design And Methods: Participants in this descriptive study were children 6-12 years of age, who were receiving cancer treatment at a free-standing children's hospital in the Intermountain West of the United States.
With 7.3% of children under the age of 18 experiencing the death of a parent and more who experience a loss of a loved one bereavement is a common experience in the lives of children and youth. The current study sought to evaluate the effectiveness of an 8-week, school-based grief group treatment program in reducing symptoms of grief, dysregulation, and improving social support.

In this proof-of-concept, the possibility of vertical bone augmentation was explored by suspending hemispherically shaped titanium-reinforced porous calcium phosphate (CaP) implants (n = 12) over the frontal bone in a sheep model (n = 6). The animals were euthanized after week 13 and the specimens were subject to micro-computed tomography (μCT) and comprehensive histological analysis.

This study addresses this gap in our understanding of the social networks and sources of support for adolescents with a brother or sister who has cancer. Additionally, we describe how the support siblings receive addresses what they feel are the hardest aspects of being a sibling of a child with cancer.

Although substantial consideration is given to the design and validation of different CaPs, relatively little is known about their material-cell interaction. Specifically, the intracellular content of different CaP phases remains to be assessed, even though CaP-filled macrophages have been observed in several studies.

Objectives: The objectives were to describe symptoms in AYAs across 5 cancer diagnostic groups by the individual factors of age group, sex, race/ethnicity, and time since diagnosis; and then to describe symptoms based on these individual factors within diagnostic groups.
