Background: We describe a new surgical method for treatment of male impotence. This procedure allows preservation of erectile tissues and avoids the need for implantable devices. It was demonstrated, that after this procedure sustained and reproducible erections were feasible.

Arteriovenous fistula combined with basal external penile compression: a new cure for male impotence.

We describe here a new procedure designed to enable reproducible sustained erection in a canine model. In 10 dogs, an end-to-side arteriovenous fistula was created between the inferior epigastric artery and deep dorsal vein. A chronic skin tunnel was created at the penile base.

Effects of interleukin-6 and its neutralizing antibodies on peritoneal adhesion formation and wound healing.

This study investigates the effects of preoperative IV administration of IL-6 and anti IL-6 on peritoneal adhesion formation and wound healing. Thirty-six male Sprague-Dawley rats (350-400 mg) were divided into three groups: control (group 1); IL-6 (group 2); and anti IL-6 (group 3). Under sterile conditions, all rats underwent a midline laparotomy.

Villous adenoma of the vermiform appendix with cecal intussusception: a case report and review of literature.

Villous adenoma of the appendix is an uncommon neoplasm. Intussusception of the appendix is a rare pathological entity. We report here an intussusception of the appendix, the lead point being a villous adenoma, presenting in a 62-year-old male whose initial complaint was a progressive enlargement of a right inguinal hernia.

Hemostasis and healing of superficial splenic injuries using Nd:YAG laser and nonsuture techniques: preliminary report.

This study was designed to compare Nd:YAG laser to fibrin glue, electrocautery, and avitene in the management of superficial splenic injury. Six dogs were submitted to laparotomy. A #11 blade scalpel was used to sharply excise the splenic capsule inflicting four 1" x 1" superficial injuries on each spleen.

Comparison of needle aspiration cytologic diagnosis with excisional biopsy tissue diagnosis of palpable tumors of the breast in a community hospital.

Fine needle aspiration cytologic examination has not extensively been used in our hospital in the work-up evaluation of solid tumors of the breast and its reliability as a basis on which to perform definitive treatment of carcinoma of the breast was in question. One hundred and five aspiration cytologic specimens were obtained from palpable solid tumors of the breast just prior to excisional biopsy. Specimens were numbered and submitted to three different staff pathologists for diagnosis in a single blind manner.
