Background: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global concern impacting both humans, animals and their environment. The use of oral antimicrobials in livestock, particularly in pigs, has been identified as a driver in the selection of AMR bacteria. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of a single intramuscular (IM) dose of marbofloxacin (8 mg/kg) on Enterobacteriaceae and E.

Methods: A prospective study was conducted using administrative and medical records from three Montreal public LTC facilities offering a rehabilitation program for 312 patients admitted between May 2020 and February 2021. The results are reported for the entire sample and compared according to the mode of admission.
The study aims to generate insights from sexual offenders on the influence of internal states and how they perceive risks of apprehension and difficulties in the context of sexual offenses, that is when offenders initiated the offense but were stopped or discouraged either before or during sexual contact. Adult males incarcerated for sexually offending completed a self-report questionnaire. Regression models, including interaction effects, were estimated.

This study examined the perceived effectiveness of situational crime prevention (SCP) in sexual assault as rated by 140 offenders convicted for sex offenses against women in Australia. Participants were presented with three scenarios and asked to rate the perceived effectiveness of SCP techniques relating to guardianship, victim self-protective behavior, and crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED). Results indicate that the effectiveness of SCP methods was perceived to vary across different contexts.

The purpose is to better understand the crime-commission process of solved and unsolved stranger sexual offenses and identify potential points of intervention for prevention purposes. Crime script analysis was performed on 542 solved ( = 265) and unsolved ( = 277) cases based on police data in Queensland, Australia, followed by a comparison between solved and unsolved crime scripts.

A self-report study was conducted with 238 adult males serving a custodial sentence for CSA, of whom 82 identified an occasion in which they had tried to have sexual contact with a child but did not because they were stopped or discouraged. We examined the situational characteristics of the noncompleted offense and compared these with the most recent completed offense by the same offenders.

Goal: Assess the feasibility of implementing SPRINT in the context of a Geriatric Assessment Unit (GAU).
Methods: GAU's health-care professionals were instructed with the SPRINT.
Objectives: To assess the association between consumption of ultra-processed foods and obesity in the Canadian population.
Methods: Cross-sectional study including 19,363 adults aged 18 years or more from the 2004 Canadian Community Health Survey, cycle 2.2.
Background: The abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) has been clearly identified as being one of the main causes of mortality after ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (rAAA). The ACS is defined as a sustained intra-abdominal pressure > 20 mm Hg associated with a new organ dysfunction or failure. A pilot study was conducted and found that the threshold of 3 among 8 selected criteria, we would predict an ACS occurrence with a 54% positive predictive value and a 92% negative predictive value.

Yet, there is still only limited evidence about individual and institutional best practices for fostering the use of scientific evidence in policy-making processes The present project is the first national-level attempt to (1) map and structurally analyze-quantitatively-health-relevant policy-making networks that connect evidence production, synthesis, interpretation, and use; (2) qualitatively investigate the interaction patterns of a subsample of actors with high centrality metrics within these networks to develop an in-depth understanding of evidence circulation processes; and (3) combine these findings in order to assess a policy network's "absorptive capacity" regarding scientific evidence and integrate them into a conceptually sound and empirically grounded framework.
Methods: The project is divided into two research components.
The empirical evidence indicating that sexual offenders against children manipulate their victims to participate in sexual activities dominates the literature on sex offenders and their modus operandi. However, recent evidence suggests that a high proportion of these offenders do not try to persuade their victims for sexual contact in the first place by using coercion or manipulation but simply assault them when an opportunity arises. Using self-reported data from a sample of incarcerated adult sexual offenders against children, we investigate whether sexual offenses against children committed by the use of nonpersuasion are characterized by little planning and by offense features that are indicative of opportunistic offending.

We describe here the case of 53-year-old woman who presented with a ruptured PDAA associated with compression of the celiac trunk by the median arcuate ligament. We first performed revascularization of the celiac trunk without intervening on the PDAA because of surgically hostile conditions.

The ageing of the population, the increasing prevalence of diabetes mellitus, and the stability of tobacco use will increase the prevalence of CLI. CLI patients have risk factors for malnutrition, and the impact of malnutrition on morbidity and mortality has been demonstrated in the general population.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjectives Abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) is poorly identified in surgery for ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm and an early management is crucial. The aim of this study was to validate how many risk factors were needed to predict ACS. Secondary objectives were to assess its prevalence and the 30-day mortality.

Unlabelled: Rationale/Objective: To develop a screening and referral algorithm tool to help identify which older institutionalized individuals with dementia need an eye examination.
Methods: The visual acuity (VA) screening test was developed on an iPad retina display. Three optotypes were used (letters, numbers, and tumbling E's) to determine whether one works best with dementia.
Introduction: Anterior shoulder dislocation can be associated with vascular and neurological complications. However, axillary artery injury associated with shoulder dislocation is rare and extremely rare without bone fracture. An early diagnosis of these complications allows predicting long-term functional outcomes.

The objective of this work was to determine the prevalence of a confirmed clinical diagnosis of CI in PD, compared to controls.
Methods: Participants with (n = 80) and without (n = 80) PD were recruited and received an eye exam.
Introduction: Secondhand smoke (SHS) can quickly attain high concentrations in cars, posing health risks to passengers and especially to children. This paper assesses whether there are social disparities in children's exposure to SHS in privately owned vehicles.
Methods: On weekday mornings and afternoons from September to November 2011, trained observers were stationed at 100 selected street intersections in Montreal, Canada.
Background: The renal safety of suprarenal (SR) fixation stent grafts has not been demonstrated yet. The principal objective of this study was to analyze the effect of the type of fixation of stent grafts on the renal function at 1 year, by calculating the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). The secondary objective was the evaluation of the morphological repercussion of the implants at the renal level by computed tomography.
