Methods: Twenty-six patients with brain neuroepithelial tumors underwent tumor resection. Two pieces of tumor tissues were taken from each tumor to be dissociated, triturated into single cells in sterile DMEM-F12 medium, and then filtered.

We have investigated the structure-activity relationships of this series, with an emphasis on the length and conformation of the linker. This work led to the identification of tetrahydroindazole analogs, such as compound 1, as the most potent class of compounds.

The influence of copper-aspirin complex on cytosolic free calcium was examined using the fluorescent indicator, Fura 2-AM. Copper-aspirin complex significantly inhibited arachidonic acid-induced aggregation in washed platelets.

Treatment of alpha-hydroxyesters with triflic anhydride and pyridine at 0 degrees C followed by warming to room temperature afforded the corresponding (Z)-alpha-aryl-alpha,beta-unsaturated esters in very good yields and excellent stereoselectivity.

Unchanged TNO (< or =42% of the initial drug sample), tramadol, and 23 metabolites from TNO-treated mice and unchanged tramadol (< or =15% of the sample) plus 20 metabolites from tramadol-treated mice were profiled, quantified and tentatively identified on the basis of atmospheric pressure ionization mass spectrometry (API-MS) and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) data. Of the tramadol metabolites, five (M1-5) have been previously identified in mice.

Objective: To observe the effect of a new synthetic tripeptide [Arg(NO(3))- Lys(OCH(3))- Arg(NO(3))] on L-arginine/NO pathway in the macrophage cell strain RAW246.7.
Methods: The cultured macrophages exposed to lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 1 microg/L) treatment were randomly divided into 3 groups (n=6) and treated with distilled water, 1x10(-4) mol/L tripeptide and 1x10(-4) mol/L L-arginine, NG-monomethyl-L-arginine (L-NMMA) for 24 h, respectively.
Background & Objective: Tumor stem cells have been isolated from several kinds of solid tumors, including primary brain tumors such as glioma and medulloblastoma. This investigation was to establish a simplified culture system to isolate and passage brain tumor stem cells (BTSCs) from human medulloblastoma, observe their proliferation and differentiation, and determine the expression of normal neural stem cell antigens, CD133 and Nestin, in BTSCs.
Methods: Eleven specimens of medulloblastoma were acutely dissociated and triturated into single cells without trypsin digestion.
The peptide ligand neuromedin U (NMU) has been implicated in an array of biological activities, including contraction of uterine, intestinal and urinary bladder smooth muscle. However, many of these responses appear to be species-specific. This study was undertaken to fully elucidate the range of smooth muscle-stimulating effects of NMU in rats, mice and guinea-pigs, and to examine the extent of the species differences.

The hexaaza macrocyclic copper(II) complex Cu(II)L(L=1,8-Dihydroxyethyl-1,3,6,8,10,13-hexaazacyclotetradecane), which has octahedral structure similar to some natural complexes, is synthesized and purified. In this study, oxidative breakage DNA by the reaction of Cu(II)L with H2O2 and ascorbate has been investigated by gel electrophoresis experiments. In electrochemical experiments, the on scDNA-modified glassy carbon electrode(GCE) is cleaved by the Cu(II)L and redox changing of the metal catalyst without adding any other reagents.

Approximately 93% of the orally administered radioactive dose (30 mg/kg) was recovered after 7 days. Fecal elimination accounted for approximately 63% of the dose while urine accounted for 30%.

Self-organizing map (SOM) has been used in protein folding prediction when the HP model is employed. The existing work uses a square-like shape lattice with l = m x n points to represent the optimal compact structure of a sequence of l amino acids. In this paper, a general l'-size sequence of amino acids is self-organized in a two dimensional lattice with l (> l') points.

The dimerization of cobalt tetrasulfonate phthalocyanine (CoTSPc) was studied in the microemulsion, micelles and aqueous alcoholic solutions. The coordination reaction for the formation of complexes CoTSPc (L), which was formed by cobalt tetrasulfonate phthalocyanine (CoTSPc) plus ligand L(L = NH3, CN-, en), was also studied. The reaction kinetics was discussed and the stability constant K of CoTSPc(L)2 was also calculated from absorbance measurement.

In our search region, given by same-sign ll(') mass m(ll('))>80 GeV/c(2) (100 GeV/c(2) for ee channel), we observe no evidence for H+/-+/- production. We set limits on sigma(pp -->H++H---->l(+)l('+)l(-)l('-)) as a function of the mass of the H+/-+/- and the chirality of its couplings.
