New technologies, including robots comprising germ-killing UV lamps, are increasingly being used to decontaminate hospitals and prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other superbugs. Existing approaches for modelling the irradiance field surrounding mobile UV disinfection robots are limited by their inability to capture the physics of their bespoke geometrical configurations and do not account for reflections. The goal of this research was to extend current models to address these limitations and to subsequently verify these models using empirically collected data.

The Wnt-β-catenin signaling is an evolutionarily conserved pathway with a prominent role in different biological processes such as stem cell renewal, cell proliferation, and differentiation. Wnt signaling dysfunctions have been associated with developmental and neurological diseases as well as formation and progression of tumors. Nanomedicine may provide safe and efficient drug delivery systems offering breakthrough innovation in targeting Wnt signaling.

Bacterial resistance to antibiotics is widely regarded as a major public health concern with last resort MRSA treatments like vancomycin now encountering resistant strains. TFDs (Transcription Factor Decoys) are oligonucleotide copies of the DNA-binding sites for transcription factors. They bind to and sequester the targeted transcription factor, thus inhibiting transcription of many genes.

To determine whether a p38 MAPK inhibitor incorporated into nanoemulsion-based chitosan nanocapsules can reduce the activity of this kinase in the brain through their nasal administration in mice. We selected the p38 MAPK inhibitor PH797804, an ATP-competitive inhibitor of p38α encapsulated in nanoemulsion-based chitosan nanocapsules. Biological effect was evaluated in microglial and neuronal cells and in and systems, in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease.

Natural polysaccharides are frequently used in the design of drug delivery systems due to their biocompatibility, biodegradability, and low toxicity. Moreover, they are diverse in structure, size, and charge, and their chemical functional groups can be easily modified to match the needs of the final application and mode of administration. This review focuses on polysaccharidic nanocarriers based on chitosan and hyaluronic acid for small interfering RNA (siRNA) delivery, which are highly positively and negatively charged, respectively.
